12/31/2010 Daily Update - Special Edition

The End is Near. My Spirits and Energy level are on the launching pad. No Cravings, No Cheats and No Tummy Troubles.

Good Bye 2010 it has been a most glorious year for me. This is the year that I took control of my life. This is the year that I began Zero Carbing. This is the year I said “I Will Endure!” This is the year for many Battles and many Victories. This is the year that I met with My (ZC) Family to Cut Meat. Most of all my Friends and (ZC) Family: This is the year that I Came, I Saw and I Conquered those things that would stand in my way of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

Yes,  2010 was the year that I joined this Forum. I am a proud Member True and Through. At this time I would like to send out a Special Message to all those who ARE (ZC)ers, to those who WERE (ZC)ers and to those who are Considering (ZC)ing:

( ZC)ers: I Salute You. I am Proud and Honored to be in your company and privileged to call you Family. I Humbly tip my hat to you and bow my head. You can always count on me in the heat of the battle. I will be at your side watching your Left as you watch my Right. Battle On!!!

(ZC)ers of the Past: For those of you who fell in battle. For whatever reasons, always know that it is never too late. There is no shame in failing and trying again. Never Give-up, Never Surrender and Never say Die!!!

(ZC)ers in waiting: If you have lurked and understand the dynamics of this (WOE). If you have on your own tried (ZC) and have had some success and you are interested in continuing your Journey. I encourage you to apply for membership to our (ZC) family. Hear the Call!!!

Last but not least. I would like to leave my Friends and (ZC) Family a special message. The words are not all mine, but they speak what is in my heart:

"You may be lost, but you are not forgotten. For those who have travelled far, to fight in foreign lands, know that the (ZC)ers greatest comfort is to have friends close at hand. In the heat of battle it ceases to be an idea for which we fight. Or a flag. Rather we fight for the (ZC)er on our left, and we fight for the (ZC)er on our right. And when armies are scattered and the empires fall away, all that remains is the memory of those precious moments that we spent sided by side."

Have a Wonderful Day my Friends and (ZC) Family! Fare Thee Well 2010. Battle On!!!

12/30/2010 Daily Update

Greetings All. My Spirits and Energy levels are good. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

Another Day in the Life of a (ZC)er. I am running oh so low on Fatty Beef Brisket. I will run out by tomorrow. I am also out of emergency Steaks. So after work I will be on the Hunt. I think I will give Steaks a break and pick up some Ground Beef (GB).  I have a nice indoor grill to cook them on.

I have been tweaking the Blog. I moved some things around and changed the “In Progress” picture and the “Before Zero Carb” picture. I added some boxes under the comment area to “rate the post”. I believe all you have to do is click the box to rate the post. The “comments” are open to everyone. You do not have to sign up. You can leave a comment anomalously. I am open to any questions that you may have. I don’t bite or flame anyone………….well I might bite you if I am hungry enough lol!

I stayed up way too late last night. I only got about three hours of rest. Amazingly I have a good amount of energy. I owe that to (ZC). Wow the New Year is around the corner. It seems that the older I get the quicker time goes by. Hey that’s a good thing when you’re losing weight. Hahaha!!!!

Hopefully I will start to post more than once a day starting sometime in January. I still and will always post on the Forum. That is my (ZC) Home. This Blog is my (ZC) Townhouse Hahaha!!!  I will enjoy a three day weekend.  (DW) is working so I will be busy taking down the exterior Christmas decorations. It has been raining for last few days, but the forecast is clear for the weekend.

Have a Great (ZC) Day my Friends and (ZC) Family! No Surrender!! No Retreat!! And Battle On!!!

12/29/2010 Daily Update - The Winds of War

A New Year on the Horizon. My Spirits and Energy Levels are Great. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

Hi my Friends and Zero Carb Family. The smell of War is in the Air. At present I am battling through the 190's in order to get to my next Mini Goal of 189 lbs. All is fare on that front at the present. I want to start a real easy exercise regiment to help tone and firm up. I am talking real EASY. First I must go thru my garage and get rid of a lot of junk. I moved to The Woodlands almost three years ago and there are things in boxes and in large totes that have not been open since I got here. I believe that I may have a few things I need, but most can be tossed. That in itself will be a nice little exercise session. Then (don't laugh too loud) I will break out the old "Soloflex". I have the whole gizmo and I plan to use it before the end of January. That is one of my Goals for 2011. That will be a whole new War front for me. So it looks like a two War front for me: One war is on the Food Front, the other War will be on the Exercise Front. Believe me, I will not stress about it. I have worked out with weights in the past. I am familiar with free weights and a variety of machines to include the "Soloflex" that I bought back in the day.

I have a pretty good understanding about exercising. I also understand that building muscle will increase weight (in a good way) and to take that into consideration when weighing myself. I really just want to tone and tighten some muscle groups.  Belive me this will be a real slow process. I have not taken measurements of myself during this weight loss. When I actually start to workout with the “Soloflex” I will take measurements at that time and keep a log. I plan on having fun with this whole process. So maybe one day I will have a custom T-shirt made that will read “Body by ZC/Soloflex”  Hahaha!!! Once again I am getting WAY Ahead of myself lol!!! One day at a time Dave. Just keep plugging away day by day. OK all better Now.
Have a Great (ZC) my Friends and (ZC) Family. Keep On Keeping On and Battle On!!!

12/28/2010 Daily Update (The Future)

Another Beautiful Morning. My Spirits and Energy levels are good. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.
I am back in the saddle again. It seems like I did not miss a step at work. I found some nice cards and some gifts on my desk.  There are some really thoughtful folks in my department.  I have a lot of catching up to do. Fun, fun, fun and more fun.
One of the things I like going back to work is a routine. Believe me I could get used to a non-work related routine quickly when that time comes lol!
I am excited to start my New Year. I already feel like a new person. I have a great outlook for 2011. On 6/21/2011 I will be on (ZC) for a year. I am curious as to where I will be on that day as far as weight and health go. People keep telling me that they find it hard to believe that I can (ZC) for the long haul. I Tell You What: I don’t feel like I am making an effort now. I don’t feel like (ZC) is a struggle or a chore. Zero Carb has just become as natural as breathing to me.  So unless I become gravely ill from (ZC)ing, I will be doing it for LIFE.
Have a Great (ZC) Day my Friends and (ZC) Family. Fight the Good Fight and Battle On!!!

(ZC) A Peaceful Easy Feeling

Well it is back to work on the morrow. It had to happen sometime. I have been off for six days and I really should not complain. I am looking forward to my test results form the 23rd of this month. I will call the doctors office to see what about the status of the lab work. I have my fingers crossed. This will be my first check up as a pure (ZC)er. (DW) is waiting too. I thinks she has a few "told you so" moments locked and loaded. Hahaha!!! We will see what we will see. I will post the "Nitty Gritty" as soon as I know.

I spent another Great Day with (DW) just chilling and taking care of some small errands. This evening we lit a bunch of candles, tea lights and the fireplace. WE sat in the glow of all the magnificent warm soft light and enjoyed some nice romantic music. Oh my, what a nice night.

I ran about with the camera a little earlier today just as the skies darkened and took some pictures of in and out of my home. I thought I would share them with you.

Click on the pictures to enlarge:

This was a very special Christmas time spent with Family and Friends. Some folks at the party had not seen me for a few months and were taken back. They still can't comprehend that (ZC) has gotten me to my current weight. I forgot to mention that I went to visit my youngest sister while picking up Mum. She and her husband were amazed. Not to mentions (DW)'s aunt and uncle, who by the way are both Medical Doctors. The aunt did mention that I should eat a balanced diet. What is a (ZC)er to do? Hahaha!!! I guess just eat a "balanced diet" and go back to 260 lbs or maybe I will hit my all time high of 280 lbs, Hey at least I will be eating a balanced diet................not!!!!

I will continue trudge on this lonely quest of good health via (ZC). I will carry the Torch. I will not Fail, I will not Stumble, I will be that "Success Story"! This is a path traveled by few who dare to look the "Norm" in the face and say "NO!!!!" Were I go many can not and will not follow. So the banner is mine to carry proudly, as I "LIVE: as the example of ZERO CARB (ZC).

So my Friends and (ZC) Family, I am glad to report another all time low on (ZC)= 197.8 lbs! I am finally able to cross out the last Mini Goal and on to the next one! Live Long !! Be Strong!! Always, Always Battle On!!!

(ZC) Another One Bites the Dust

12/26/2010 Daily Update The Aftermath

Glorious Day All. My Spirits and Energy Levels are good. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

What a Beautiful day after Christmas. (DW)'s aunt and uncle stayed over last night. we slept in. We got up and decided to go out to eat. We first went to a Country French Cafe chain call La Madeleine. It is a real nice restaurant that has an old country rustic look and feel. Not bad for a chain. I was going to stick to an omelet. Well we were not the only ones that decided to sleep in and get a bit to eat there. It had a line that reached to the entrance. That was not so bad except when it came to the seating. There was six of us altogether. I scouted around and could not find a table for more than four. Yes, I know what your thinking, No, I could not find two tables to push together. So what is a (ZC)er to do?? Well thinking on my feet (no laughing allowed lol!) I suggested to VAMOOSE out of there and head to The Woodlands Resort. They have a nice huge dinning room with some pretty good food.

We got there around 11:45 am. They did not have the usual Sunday Brunch. They did still have the everyday breakfast buffet. So we decided to order from the lunch menu. I Tell You What: I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs. These folks have there own smokehouse and know how to do ribs right. I would compare these ribs to any BBQ restaurant that I have ever been too. It was so much food that I could only eat half. Look I'm talking Rib Paradise Y'ALL! The only thing I regret is that I did not take a picture of them.

Later That day after the aunt and uncle took off, we did a little after Christmas shopping. I scored some good deals. The only frustrating thing was that the cash register price did not always match the discount sign by the items. Things eventually got straighten out and I was a happy camper by the end of the day.

Well my Friends and (ZC) Family, I had a most Glorious Day. I hope you did. Keep the Faith and Battle On!!!

12/25/2010 Daily Update and Merry Christmas

lMerry Christmas All! My Spirits and Energy are on the up and up. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

Tis the Season my Friends and Zero Carb Family, to be thankful. I Tell You What: I had a most delightful Christmas Celebration. We had Friends and Family and Guests. They were from: China, Canada, Clear Lake, The Texas Medical Center and of course The Woodlands. The oldest was 83 yrs old and the youngest was 2 yrs old. We talked, laughed and I almost burst out in song. Well I had to get a grip. No need to scare anyone with my yodeling . Hahaha!!! We made sure to have gifts for all. It was a delight to see our guest get an unexpected gift. Yes, the gifts were modest. Yet I made sure that they were practical and wouldn't be re-gifted later lol!

I Tell You What: I almost messed up big time. I calculsated that the Roasted Turkey would take about 21/2 hours to cook and the Ham about 3 hours to cook. Well after re-doing the Ham calculation, it ended up being closer to 6 hours. YIKES!!! That would have met that the Ham would not be ready by almost 2 hours past dinner time. Well my Friends and Zero Carb Family I was up the creek with only a Turkey Drumstick to paddle with. Then I thought, and yes I know that can be Dangerous, I could use my Electric Roaster! That baby cooks quick. I love the way the meats come out in it. So the day was saved by the "Rival Roaster Oven". Yippee!!!

Menu consisted of: Roasted Herb Turkey, an Old Fashioned Country Ham, Dirty Rice, Mixed Roasted Veggies, Green Bean Casserole, Sweet Potato Casserole with Walnut/ Hazelnut Crumb topping, Red and Green Grape Salad, Whole Cranberry/Orange  Sauce, Roasted Turkey Gravy, Garlic Bread and Buttered Croissants.

Just click on the pictures to enlarge them if you Dare!!! So (ZC)ers may faint at the sight of such offensive carbs. As for me? I live in the Real World and have to live with Carbs in my Face all the time. No Worries!

.
So this was the Spread. I had a lot of Fun. I cooked and served everything. I have mentioned before that cooking is a passion for me. I don't care what it is. I just have fun creating it and getting feed back on the results. Especially now that I do not partake in the eating of most the things I make now a days. I don't sample anything that is not (ZC). From my vast experience in the kitchen, seasoning is pretty easy to guess, especially when I am following a recipe.

I hope that Everyone had a Very Merry Christmas!! I sure did!!! Battle On my Friends and (ZC) Family!!!

12/24/2010 Daily Update Christmas Eve

Season Greetings All. My Spirits and Energy levels are good. No cravings, No cheats and No tummy troubles.

I finally cam up with a final Christmas Day Dinner Menu: Roasted Turkey, Baked Bone-in Ham, dirty rice, mixed roasted vegetables, green bean casserole, yam casserole, red and green grape salad, whole cranberry sauce with pine nuts, turkey gravy, cocktail size croissants, and garlic bread. I am making a repeat of a few Thanksgiving dishes upon popular requests. Desserts? Well it will be whatever guests decide to bring. My family eats SAD. They are not interested in (ZC) or LC. Many years ago two of my sisters and I got together and made a Low Carb aka LC Thanksgiving Dinner. At the time they were experimenting with LC. Well for the most part it was a big flop. While everyone was a good sport about it, you could tell it really did not go over well. How do I really know? Because it was not back by popular demand. That spoke volumes to me. Hey we tried.

I really love to cook. For me cooking is an art. I love to create and tweak recipes. Baking is on the top of my list. I love to decorate the final product. I have had rave reviews on some of my creations. I Tell You What: when folks inquire what Bakery it came from and I say your looking at him. Well what can I say. For the record: I do not taste the non-(ZC) foods that I make. I have a strong Will and I do not play with Fire. Either the creation is a success or not. I have been cooking for a long time. If I have to guess it is well over 30 years. I tend to follow recipes and then tweak them. It is not rocket science.

Today I will make some of the dishes. I have a lot to make and it is solo time in the kitchen. It is the way I like it. I get a rhythm going in the kitchen and I hate to stop and instruct on what needs to get done when I am in a rush. I can be very fast and accurate in my cooking, but it can be irritating when obstacles occur. I have to say that I agree with: Too Many Cooks Spoil the Soup, Broth, Stew or whatever. Now don’t get me wrong. I also can get into Teaching Mode. At that point I love to instruct and teach those who want to learn. I have a lot of patience.

I was planning to make some Beef  Cheek for my special Christmas dinner, but I changed my mind. I will save the meat for another time. I have a few presents to wrap. I bought (DW) a new computer and monitor. She will be surprised. I also bought a few small things for our guests. I’m a type of person that loves to give. Receiving is not a big deal to me. The company of friends and family gathered having a good time is a Big Gift on its own. It is just my way.

I had a nice bounce in the Wrong direction today. No Worries. It comes with the territory and is expected by ME. Just another reason I don’t Mark Out Mini Goals so quickly.

Have a Great Day my Friends and (ZC) Family. Fight the Good Fight and Battle On!!!

(ZC) Spread the Joy

12/23/2010 Daily Update The Visit

Good Tidings. My Spirits and Energy Levels are good. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

I have just gotten back from my annual Visit. I had a talk with the Doc. He was amazed at my weight loss. I explained (ZC) to him, but he kept calling it an "Atkins like Diet" . I just gave up. He then went on giving me the balanced diet talk. It sounded like (DW) talking.........Jeeezzz!!!! Can I get a BREAK!!!!! I asked him about ordering a blood screening test that actually measured the LDL and he said lets see First how the calculated one turns out. If the LDL was high then he would order the test to examine the particle size. So only time will tell. I guess I can expect the results by next week.

I Tell You What: It felt real good to tell the Doc "I decided to lose weight instead of continuing the low dose BP meds. The Doc was amazed when I told him that I hadn't had any Cravings for Carbs. He said "You must have nerves of Steel". The Doc is young and I thought he would be more receptive. I was wrong. I can't wait for the lab results.

On the 25th we will have twelve folks all together for Christmas day dinner. I will cook a montage of carb loaded fare for the SADers and I will have the Roasted Turkey and Baked Ham. I guess I can share the Meat with them.Hahaha!!! (DW) works on the 24th. So will entertain guests and start to prepare some of the dishes for the next day tomorrow.

New all time Low on (ZC) = 198.6 lbs

Have a great Day my Friends and (ZC) Family. Stay Strong!! Live Long!!

12/22/2010 Daily Update

Good Day All. My Spirits and Energy Levels are great. No cravings, No cheats and No tummy troubles.

Sorry for the late post. I am off until next Tuesday for Christmas. I took off early morning to pick up Mum to spend the day with her. I met up in the afternoon with (DW) and the (IL)s for lunch. We went to nice seafood restaurant called The Rock Fish. I had an 8oz rare Flat Iron Steak and 5 Jumbo grilled Shrimp. I gave my two side veggies to (DW). The food there was very good. We had a blast. We later walk down the Water Way and took a ride on the Trolley. I swear The Woodlands was designed with convince in mind. We later went to my favorite spot: Hubble and Hudson. We walked around looking at all the imported goods from Europe and bought some small Christmas gifts. We are now spending some time together at the home front just chilling and listening to Christmas music. I wish it was cold enough to put the fireplace on. It is near the 80s and way too hot. We will have the big dinner on Christmas Day because (DW) works on Christmas Eve.

I Tell You What: That Flat Iron Steak was totally delicious. It does not have much fat, but the Steak is so tender. Before (ZC) Flat Iron was my favorite steak. I have even over cook it and it is still tender. I just wish it had more fat. The Grilled Shrimp was also nice. I do like Snow Crab a lot especially drowned in plain sweet cream butter.

Well my Friends and (ZC) Family I am living the Life. I am looking forward to a full day on Christmas cooking for family and friends. Mum will be able to joins us on that day. This really made my day. She will spend Christmas Eve with my sister. I will have some international guests from China. Tomorrow I will have my annual check up. I will have them do an extensive blood test to include checking the LDLs. No calculation for me. I want to know if the particle size is healthy. So I am willing to pay the extra $100.00 for the test if the insurance does not want to pay for it. I will post the results.

Have a great (ZC) day my Friends and (ZC) Family Keep On Keeping On and Battle On!!!

12/21/2010 Daily Update The War Still Rages

Good Tidings All. My Spirits and Energy Levels are at an all time HIGH!!! NO Cravings, NO Cheats and NO Tummy Troubles!!!
Another Great Day in the Life of ZERO CARB (ZC)!!! I swear sometimes I go to bed and think to myself “Can it get better than this?” Then sometimes I wake to find out: YES, YES IT CAN!!!
I Gotta Tell ya I have a charging sense of Well Being Today!!! I only can describe it as a Whole New ME. It’s like after 199 lbs I have become a New Person.  I look at some of those before pictures and think to myself “Who is that guy?” or should I say “Who is that poor Slob?” Some may say “Dave you have went through a major Transformation.”  Yes, I agree, yet I am not finished. This is just a leap from one stage to another. In this stage I look and feel much better. I have won many battles, but the War Still Rages for My Very Soul, My Health, My Total Well Being.
Let me tell you something about the Mini Goals. Those are my Battles and I won a few. I mark Victory by Crossing those suckers out. I will wait to cross out 199 lbs at least one week from when I got there. Let’s just say the troops have won the day, but mopping up operations are still in effect. So the War still Rages all around me.  One Day I will Declare Total Victory. One day the War will be won. For now all I can do is:
Keep On Keeping On!!! Fight the Good Fight!!! No Surrender No Retreat!!! Keep the Faith!!!   And Battle On!!!

12/18/2010 Daily Update (New Low)

Moving Forward. My Spirits and Energy levels are Good. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

I got some well needed rest. Although I stayed up late I also slept in today. I have a day full of activities, mostly shopping. Hey that can be fun. I need to get a few Christmas gifts. Yes, I am one of those who wait to the last moment lol!! I don’t have the faintest idea what I am going to get, but oh well.

I got asked a rather Strange yet sobering Question yesterday. “So what do you plan to do after you lose all the weight Dave?” My immediate “quick draw” answer was “this is a way of eating (WOE) for life, I am not simply on a diet.” Then I thought to myself: How will it be at that point? I have been so caught up in the weight loss I did not think of that aspect of when “I GET THERE.” Lord knows that is a long, long way in the future. Yet I do plan to get there and then what? I do want to and plan to start some form of physical conditioning. Why? You may ask. Because Prior to being so extremely overweight I at some way or another engaged in some physical activities. I really enjoyed it. WOW I’m I getting way too far ahead of myself…………..Sorry lol!!!

Did I mention the cleaning? Not my favorite part of this day. Yes, guys I help with the cleaning in the house. (DW) works and works hard. I do my fair share of inside cleaning as well as ALL the outdoor clean ups. (DW) offers to help outdoors, but I just tell her not to worry about it. She is more than capable of doing outdoor cleanups, but this is just that little way I try to give her a little down time for herself.

Meat, Meat, Meat and More Meat. I just could go crazy thinking about it! Hahaha!!! See, did you notice the Outbursts of laughs? Actually I have been thinking about Meat. Could you guess? I want start to explore the wider range that is available to me. I have a (ZC)er friend that lives in Germany that has inspired me to explore this. She always describes a vast array of the Meats that she Eats and they sound oh so Yummy. Living in The Woodlands affords me a large variety of Meats to Eat. Now these are available through specialty shops, some may be available at the regular stores, but not much. I would not be surprised that I may have to special order some. That’s OK. I don’t mind the wait.

Ladies and Gentlemen I hit another All time low on (ZC) = 201.4 LBS

12/17/2010 Daily Update - December Surprise

Wow, What A Compliment. My Spirits and Energy Levels are Great. No Cravings, No Cheats, and No Tummy Troubles!
I Gotta Tell Ya I was paid a most high Compliment yesterday late evening. (DW) and I went to do a little shopping. First we went to a discount store named Marshalls. There was not much that we were interested there. Then we decided to go to the Target next door. For those not familiar with Target it is similar to Wal-Mart, just a little nicer IMO. Anyhow as we entered the store I told (DW) to go ahead while I stopped at Snack Shop to buy a bottle of water. There was a lady in line; I would say in her late twenties to early thirties, blonde, height to weight proportionate and so on. The guy behind the counter handed her the food she ordered (hotdog I think) and she back away from the counter. I asked the attendant for bottled water and started to pull out my Credit Card to pay for it. This is when the “Compliment” Started. Unbeknown to me the lady that had just been served spoke up and said “I am going to pay for his water”. She then handed the attendant a couple of dollars and sat at a table. The water was rung up and I was handed the water and the change. I went over to the lady and placed the change on the table and said “Thanks for paying for my water.” She turned from her seat, looked up at me and said with rather an alluring voice and smile “Anytime.” I just smiled and walked away. I Tell You What: In my hay day it was not uncommon to have a drink or two bought for me at the club. This took me by Total Surprise. YES of course I immediately told (DW). Her eyes lit up. We then had a little chuckle about it. At the end of the day I look at it as a really Nice Compliment.
Well my Friends and (ZC) Family I had a nice move on the scales this morning. So I just might not lose that $10.00 that I placed on myself.

I had another All Time Low on (ZC) = 201.8 LBS

12/16/2010 Daily Update Embarrassing

It’s Embarrassing……. My Spirits and Energy Levels are on the up and up. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.
My Energy levels are in full up swing mode. I feel good does not quiet describe it lol! I just get this tingly feeling all over as the Energy surges through my body. I have to admit it does feel Great.
It is indeed Embarrassing for me now a days at work. I have been getting so many compliments about my weight loss. I swear I cannot make it to my door to my office without at least 2 to 3 comments. After I opened up this morning I had a short impromptu meeting with my boss in the hallway just outside his office. As folks from other departments passed by the comments began to flow even more. One assistant department head look passed by a second time and stopped by us and looked me up and down and stated to his subordinate that was in tow behind him “he must have lost at least 50 pounds”.  He then look at me for conformation. I said “Actually I have lost about 58 pounds” he then looked at his subordinate and said “see I told you so”. He then turned and walked away.
I have to say that I do find it funny when some folks have said that I look skinny. Hahaha!!! Now I know they need glasses lol! I still have a way to go. I feel confident that I am passed the “Halfway Mark” for sure. I still get a thrill when the folks that ask me how I loss the weight react to the (ZC) concept. Well what can a (ZC)er do?

12/15/2010 Daily Update History Lessons

Good Tidings. My Spirits and Energy Levels are Good. No Cheats, No Cravings and No Tummy Troubles.
This morning I noticed that my pants are starting to feel a little lose. Let me regress: I was on vacation from November 11, 2010 thru November 28, 2010. Somewhere in the middle of all that I took a week vacation to Cozumel.  My first day back to work was on November 29, 2010. In my closet I had been keeping six pairs of “Dockers” styled pants for at least ten years or so. I had the pants hemmed, and dry cleaned. I had bought them a little smaller because I was on a diet at the time and thought I would fit in them. They must have been on sale, I really don’t know exactly. Knowing me, they must have been marked down 50% or more. The pants are made of a real nice material and are styled a little more dresser than regular Dockers.  So five pairs of assorted color pants have been in my closet for over ten years, it actually may have been as much as twelve. This is my third week wearing them and at first they were a bit snug. I noticed since Monday that they are beginning to fit much better, not on the loose side. Don’t get me wrong, they are not falling down or anything of that matter. The pants are just much more comfortable than on week one of wearing them.
I posted the following pictures on the Forum: Zeroing In On Health (ZIOH) . The current picture of me is my current avatar in my Journal over there. I really sweet lady commented on my new avatar and I wanted her to be able to get the benefit of seeing a bigger picture since the avatar is little small. Then I came up with the idea of posting a before and current picture together so that all who happen up my Journal will benefit from seeing what (ZC) can do for you. I feel that on that site it is important that all the lurkers understand the Power of (ZC). The Members already know and many have experienced and benefited.
So without further ado here are the Pictures:
 Christmas 2008
12/11/2010

I Tell You What: That first picture really scared me to death. It was taken only two years ago. I was surly on the road to a coronary or some other health related tragedy. At that point I had high Blood Pressure and borderline Diabetes.  Either just before of a little after that Christmas the Doc put me on low dose High Blood Pressure Medicine. I only took the first three month subscription and stopped. I know I tried VLC for a while and went down to around 235 lbs only to fail. I then discovered (ZIOH) and read Journals and other assorted materials on the site and decided to apply for membership. I was accepted and officially joined the Forum on June 29, 2010. I actually started this (WOE) on June 21, 2010 and the rest is history.

12/14/2010 Daily Update (New Low)

Howdy ALL. My Spirits and Energy Levels are there. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.
I stayed up way too late last night. I made the mistake of taking a nap after I got home. I think I was a little fatigued from all the yard work I did in a small span of time on Sunday. I Tell You What: something GREAT came out of that. I was able to post quite a bit to MY (ZC) Family at the Forum. Now that is a Good thing! I only got to post to about half the posts that I wanted. I will have to catch up and post more soon.
Today I added “Flag Counter” on the left side bar towards the bottom. The stats that I can see, as an Administrator, are limited to the top ten countries that have viewed the Blog. There are over ten different countries that have visited and I thought it would be fun to be able to see all of them. This counter should be able to list 200 countries. That should be more than enough for this Speck on the Web lol!
I have been thinking a lot lately of my next Mini Goal of 199 lbs. I get this weird feeling all over. I know it’s crazy, but it seems strange and exciting and then strange again lol!!! You would think I was moving to a different country or something like that. I will still look like I am at the present, but something inside me will be different. Something New, something Old or just something Different. I could go crazy just pondering about it. Day by Day Dave, that a boy. Hahaha!!!!
(ZC) has been good to me and I have pledged to do all that I can to be successful on this Journey.  I have to give it a fair chance to work. Failure is Not an Option. Cheating has not been a concern for me. Yes I am just as Human as the next person. Alas no Man of Steel here. Just a Solid Conviction to my Mission: Lose the Weight and be Healthy for Life. I do this not only for me, but my Family. At the rate I was going Dave may not have seen birthdays past his 60’s. Who really knows? It is just the way I feel.  I will continue to move forward with (ZC). Daily assaults in the Form of food and Negative Comments hit me on all sides on a daily basis, but that’s OK. I will NOT YIELD!!!
Another All Time Low on (ZC) = 202.4 lbs

I had a fun filled/working weekend. I enjoyed and prevailed at (DW)’s Charismas party. I Grilled Rib eyes and Lambs Breasts (ribs) and battled with leaves in the backyard.
I have come to the realization that, God Willing, I will be in “Onederland” soon. This will be a major achievement for me. I really don’t remember the last time I was less than 200 lbs. I have this strange feeling. You would think I would be overwhelmed with Joy and Excitement. Early on I was. Now that the time is getting all so much closer a new strange, weird feeling has come over me. I think to myself rationally “are you kidding Me”?  I wish I knew why I am feeling this way my Friends and (ZC) Family.
As of today I have lost a total of 57.2 lbs.

12/12/2010 (DW) Christmas Party 2010 & Daily Update

Ho Ho Ho!!! My Spirits and Energy Levels are Great. No cravings, No cheats, and No tummy troubles.

(DW)'s Christmas party was a really nice event. there had to be close to a thousand folks in attendance. We had a great time. They actually had a real good live band that played a wide variety of music and were very professional. (DW) seemed to really enjoy herself. Unfortunately for me, (DW) does not like to dance. Now that is a small Dilemma for me. I used to be a disco duck in the day. No really. I swear on a Stack of Rib eyes that I would dance my fanny off. I would get all kinds of nice compliments about the way I danced. Some of those compliments were from total strangers that just happen to observe me. Oh Well.

Now for the Nitty Gritty: the Food. Well it was basically like last years. A whole Onslaught of Carbs with a few, but decent (ZC) choices.
Salad Anyone?
Green beans (Lets Go Green)
Some kind of Veggie Mix ( Oh Boy!!)
Wild Rice (Wild and Crazy)
Mashed Potatoes (do the twist?)
Gotta have the Gravy
and Bread to Sop it UP!!!

Now if this was not enough, there was a Second Wave of Carbs waiting for the ambush. Now Let me tell you a little story behind these dessert pictures. While I was taking these pictures a rather overweight couple paused as I was doing the deed. Well I was minding my own (ZC) business when the rather Portly gentlemen said to his mate "see if you take pictures of it, you don't have to eat it." and then they started to laugh. OH HELL NO. No you didn't. So I came back with: "I haven't eaten them for over five months and I have lost 56 pounds, Enjoy your Dessert why don't you". I swear to God both their mouths hung open. Only for a second. Then they went into a frenzy of scarfing up the desserts onto their plates. OH WELL!

Dessert Anyone?
Oh Yum??
Barf Time
Oh Holiday Cookies (Well that's "A" OK)
Dear Wife's choices of dessert (OMG poor thing)

Just when the day seemed lost, my back up units fell into play. Here are some Friendly forms of food that I was able to eat:
Salmon (I had to scrape it a bit) Oh ignore that red thing next to it
Good Old Roasted Turkey
Roast Beef (the Crown Jewel)

Some may wonder why I post all the carbs. Well this is a true Chronicle of my Journey through Zero Carb. It would be an incomplete picture to only show what I actually ate and not all the temptation and "On the Spot Choices" that I had to make. Decisions, Decisions and Again Decisions. Day to Day is always a struggle. I have said (ZC) is easy and it is. The choices are obvious making the actual choice is not.Yes, my Friends and (ZC) Family this is reality for me everyday. I must be Strong. I will be Strong. I have to be Strong. I refuse to go back to the way it was.I have been on (ZC) for a little less than six months. Eating all the carbs posted here would have been an easy thing for me to do in the not so recent past. Not only easy but it would have felt natural (I think I'm going to be Sick).

Oh, you want one  more picture, OK. the next one is the plate of food I ate that night. Funny thing, once I was accused of starving myself because I am losing weight a nice pace. Look at the amount on that plate, Starving? Really? LETS GET REAL:
Dave's Dinner

This is a Day in the Life of Dave. No hogwash, just true events the way they happen. The Road I have chosen is not an easy one to follow in this world. People think I am crazy for my (WOE). Dave says "LET THEM THINK". Crazy? Yes indeed Crazy like a Fox!!! Whatever that means hahaha!!! Hey it sounded good at the time. Give Me a Break, Why don't Ya!!!

At the End of the day: I will Be Strong, I won't Give up. I will PREVAIL!!! So for the Big Question: What was Dave's Weigh-in this morning.........well you know I ate late last night, and I did smell a lot of carbs especially all those things in the dessert area.

So I  kinda.......sorta...........had another all time low on (ZC) Go Figure!!!

12/11/2010 Christmas Party & Daily Update

It’s the Weekend! My Spirits and Energy levels are Good. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

Well My Friends and (ZC) Family today I will be up for the Challenge Once Again. Tonight I will attend Dear Wife’s (DW)’s Company Christmas party. There is sure to be an Onslaught of Carbs of all kinds Screaming take me DAVE!! Hahaha!!! I Tell You What: LET THEM SCREAM!!!

The Christmas party does not start until 8:00 pm Rather late if you ask me. Last night I got some  needed sleep. I feel well rest and ready to Battle Carbs in whatever form that they may be in.

Yesterday I was looking at my rather dwindled wardrobe for something to wear for the (DW)‘s company Christmas party. I forgot that I did not have a suit that fits anymore nor a jacket. What is a (ZC)er to do? LOL!!! That is actually Good News. I went “Shopping” yesterday and found a rather nice jacket that matches a pair of slacks that I have. I just need to buy a nice white long sleeve shirt. I used to have four and now they are all way too big and have been TOSSED OUT of my closet  FOREVER!!!

I will take plenty of pictures of tonight’s event and post them tomorrow along with a Special Edition that will be of a nice outdoor grill of Lamb and Beef. YUM I can hardly wait!!!

No move on the scale today, Hey that can be a Good Thing if you know what I mean hahaha!!!!

12/10/2010 Battle of the Ounces Daily Update

Battle of the Ounces.  Good day all. My Spirits and Energy levels are on the Rise. No cravings for carbs, no cheats, and no tummy troubles.
These past few days I have had “Bounces in Ounces” in both directions. I Tell You What: it has gone into the right direction today hahaha!!!
Thank God It’s Friday!!! I will be going to my Dear Wife’s Company Christmas party this Saturday evening.  Yet another Test. Last year they had a very impressive party at the Marriot Water Way  in The Woodlands Texas. It was held in a gigantic ballroom with all the trimmings. They had a “Desert Table from Hell” I swear it looked as they had a dozen Pastry Chefs working on it. Some of the deserts were so pretty that they look like works of art. I will take plenty of tomorrows affair and post them on the Blog.
I just can’t wait for Sunday. Why may you ask? Because I will be chilling and grilling. Yes I do mean chilling, because the temperature has been dropping into the 30’s at night. The forecast for Sunday: 56 degrees for the high and 32 degrees for the low lol!!! Heck I’m from Texas and True Texans will grill in any kind of weather come hell or high water. Hahaha!!! I plan to grill some Lamb Breasts, which look like small racks of ribs. I have two packs that contain 2 small racks each. I will post pics of that and the Rib eyes or T-Bones that I will grill that day.  I am looking forward to a little break from the  Fatty Beef Brisket.

12/9/2010 The Moral of the Story Daily Update

Great Day All. My Spirits and Energy Levels are Good. No Cravings for carbs, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

After work yesterday my Dear Wife (DW) had a Christmas party to attend with the women’s association on our street.  Since I do all the cooking in my home I was tasked to make something for her. This year they wanted the ladies to bring appetizers. At first (DW) asked if I would make Deviled Eggs. I have made them in the past and they were a hit at functions at her job. So I thought I would surprise her and make something in addition to the eggs. I ended up making Stuffed Cherry Peppers. I stuffed Prosciutto and Provolone Cheese in them. I have a Deviled Egg Tray that has a large center. The Eggs are on the rim and the stuffed cherry peppers were in the center. I alternated the decorations on the eggs one with paprika one with parsley to give it a green and red Christmas look. The Cherry Peppers came in assorted festive colors of red, orange and green.  Man did the tray look festive or what. I have never made the Stuffed Cherry Peppers and I was optimistic if the ladies were going to like them.  When (DW) returned from the party all were gone. She told me that the food for the most part that the other ladies brought were mostly the Usual “Carb” load Suspects and there was plenty of leftovers. (DW) said the ladies raved about her tray!

THE MORAL OF THE STORY!!!

So Dave why did you bring up this story of the Christmas party? Thanks for asking that question Teri I knew that I could count on you and your wisdom.  Well this just shows you the power of (you guessed it) ZERO CARB (ZC)!!!  Not So Fast Dave, I just don’t see the connection?? Lisa Maree, I think you brought up a valid point. Let me ELABORATE: What I didn’t tell (DW) and you my Friends and (ZC) Family is that I made the Deviled Eggs (ZC).  Didn’t you use Mayo Dave? That’s made from vegetable oil and that’s not (ZC). OMG I knew that I could count on Teri once again on this matter. I Tell You What: This is how I made the Deviled Eggs (ZC). I mixed the egg yolks with Heavy Whipping Cream (HWC), just enough to get the filling creamy. Then I seasoned the mixture lightly with dill, garlic and onion powder, cracked black pepper and kosher salt. There You Go!!  O.K. Dave that’s nice that you made some (ZC) Deviled Eggs for the ladies, so what is the MORAL OF THE STORY? I’m glad you chimed in again Lisa Maree.

The Moral is that the folks at the party devoured that food that contained the most Protein aka (ZC). I could have easily bought some Roast Beef and rolled them up with Ricotta or Blue Cheese or any assortment of Cheeses and I would bet that (DW) would have still returned with an empty tray.

I did not come to this conclusion of the ladies party until my (DW) came home with an empty tray and described what else was served and that the other trays were still half full towards the end of the party. I thought this was an interesting observation.  I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the ladies ate the rolled up Prosciutto and Provolone stuffing and threw the pepper away.  This all reminds me of that old tv commercial: “Where’s the Beef?” This is just my interpretation and my impression of the event.

No Surrender!! No Retreat!! My Friends and (ZC) Family!!!

(ZC) It’s Not Too Late
