1/31/2011 - Weekly Update - A Breed Apart

Greetings Friends. My Spirits and Energy levels are in check. No cravings, no cheats, and no tummy troubles.
Today marks 32 weeks of (ZC) and this is my Progress Report:

6/21/10=260lbs 6/28/10=255lbs 7/5/10=252lbs 7/12/10=247.5lbs 7/19/10=245.8lbs 7/26/10=245.6lbs 8/2/10=244.8lbs 8/9/10=240.6lbs 8/16/10=240.4lbs 8/23/10=239.8lbs 8/30/10=238.4lbs 9/6/10=234.2lbs 9/13/10=230.2lbs 9/20/10=228.8lbs 9/27/10=225.6lbs 10/4/2010=221.6lbs 10/11/2010=221.4lbs 10/18/2010=218.0lbs 10/25/2010=216.0lbs 11/1/10=213.6lbs 11/8/1 =211.8lbs 11/15/10=207.4lbs 11/22/10=???lbs 11/29/10=206.8lbs 12/6/10=204.4lbs 12/13/10=202.8lbs 12/20/10=199.4lbs 12/27/10=197.8lbs 1/3/2011=196.8lbs 1/10/11=196.0lbs 1/18/11=195.0 1/24/11=194.6lbs 1/31/2010=193.8lbs

Well it looks like (ZC) is still churning and burning, but at a little slower rate for me at this time. No complaints here. No worries. I am doing all that I can do, I think lol. I could change what I eat, but I think I will stay on track.

I had a good time cooking last night. I cooked Beef ribs and Rib eye steaks. I will post my Step by Step Rib eye recipe later today. I will also post my Step by Step Flash Freeze method for freezing steaks and Beef patties.

I Tell You What: (DW) came home from work last night just in time to enjoy a nice Rib eye steak that had been resting in all its glorious juices for about 15 minutes. She tore it up. Hahaha!!! She claims she does not really care for steak HA!!!!

I ran out of my Fatty Beef Brisket today. I had enough to take to work. So I will be on the hunt for one on my way home. I will use the Oven Method to cook it and do a Step by Step deal on my Blogs (ZC) Recipe Corner area. So Gaby if you’re listening you can see the real deal soon.

I feel really great. My mind is clear and focused on the task ahead. I am dedicated to this (WOE). You guys just don't know how happy this Way of Life has made me, because I can't find the words that can justify the feeling inside. I guess the best way that I can describe it is that I am a "New Person". That seems not to make sense, I know. It is the best way to describe how I feel now about myself. Yes, I do indeed have a way to go before I get to where I need to be. I will get there. I have no doubt. It is only a matter of time and I have all kinds of time. All Right All Ready.

Have a Great (ZC) Day my Friends and Zero Carb Family. Battle On and On and On!!!

1/30/2011 - Daily Update - Be All That You Can Be

Sunday, Sunday how good it is. My Sprit’s and Energy levels are good. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

I go a lot of rest last night. I have been staying up a little too long these past two nights. I am starting to feel more and more like a whole new person.

The way I feel, my outlook on certain things……….it is just strange. I would not have thought at this time in my life this would be going on. How would I feel if I did not go down the Zero Carb road? Who knows? I don’t. I Tell You What: It would not be like this most likely.

A comment was made “I wonder how you will look in a year?” Wow that threw me back a little. A year Indeed. Fumy thing, just this past Friday the person in charge of our company fitness center was discussing with one of my coworkers,  that frequents that facility, about the various folks that attend and workout there and their success on losing weight. He was concerned, rightly so, not just about the initial weight loss but the “staying power” of the weight loss. He said “ where will they be in a year from now?” Just when I thought “this guy gets it” he followed up with the “balance diet” mantra. He also said “I can’t stand diets that limit or eliminate certain things like sugar. OMG he really lost me at that point.

Today I had an all time low on (ZC) = 193.8 lbs

I am having a Great day and I hope my Friends and Zero Carb Family are too. Battle On Y’all!!!

1/29/2011 - Pictures Added Today and More!!!

I tell you What: I thought I had it all together, but I forgot something when I left this morning for the photo shoot. I forgot to put an SD card in the camera. The on-board memory was not much and I had to lower the MP from 14 to 3. Well I think the pictures still came out OK.

I posted a side by side picture of me back in mid November if I am not mistaken and one form today. they are roughly the same distance and pose. I don't see a great difference.

On the flip side I went shopping and at HEB and scored some very, very fatty Rib eyes. I mean these babies were fatty. Did I mention they had some fat on them lol!! I also scored some Beef ribs from Randall's. I will cook both these precious Beef delights tomorrow outside. I plan on grilling the Rib eyes and BBQing the Beef ribs.

I will take pictures of the Beef I will cook and put the pictures and recipe on the Zero Carb Recipe Corner area. I hope my friend "Tilla" has a chance to see it. I am making the Beef ribs especially for her. Well not to eat of course, she lives on the other side of the world. It is more of an instructional deal. I wish I could really share them with her, she is a part of my (ZC) family.

I ended up eating the Mexican Sausage and eggs (3) today and it was Wonderful. I will chow down on Beef ribs on Sunday. The Rib eyes will be frozen for emergency steaks. I ran out a while back and have not replenished them,

I hope everyone continues to have a Great Day. Battle On!!!

1/29/2011 - Daily Update - Snap Shot

Nice day all. My Spirits and Energy levels are good. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

It is a beautiful day out so far, and I need to get on the road. I am almost ready to start the photo shoot or should I say snap a couple of pictures lol! I an anxious to try the new camera out.

I stayed up a wee bit too late last night or I would have been on the road by now. I can tell it is going to be a fun filled day. I will shop for some Beef ribs later to make on Sunday.

I will try to post again later today, I am not sure but I will see how much time I have later to post some pictures. If not I will post some up to date In Progress pictures tomorrow.

I don’t think I look too much different than my last In Progress picture, although I have lost about 15 pounds since then and I wear a smaller shirt and pant size. I just don’t see a big difference in the mirror. The last In Progress picture I am wearing the blue shirt and black jeans. I have a smaller pair of black jeans and a smaller blue shirt that I can wear to help with a comparison.

I am debating to treat myself with those delicious Beef ribs at the Irish Pub: The Gooses Acre. I have some Mexican Sausage that I had planed to eat mix with eggs, but those might have to wait until tomorrow. I guess I will make up mind later.

I hope everyone has a Great (ZC) Day My Friends and Zero Carb Family No Surrender!! No Retreat!!

1/28/2011 - Daily Update - Fantasy Land

TGIF!!!!! My Spirits and Energy Levels are riding HIGH!!! No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

Goodness Gracious Great Balls of Fire!!! (ZC) is working its magic. I am bursting with energy today!!! I am defiantly finding it hard to sit still today. My boss and his boss were in my office this morning for a quick meeting. We stood in a huddle with the other two supervisors and talked about the week’s progress and events. I just could not stand still. I kept moving side to side and paced a little. It was  a little embarrassing, oh well.

The only remedy I have as I sit at my desk is to put the ear buds on and listen to old school dance music and tap my feet as I work. Hey it works for me lol!! I have so much energy, it is truly INCREDIBLE!!! This is defiantly a positive “Fortune of War” for me.

As far as the forecast for tomorrow it is supposed to be a nice day on the top half and rain later on. I will take my new camera and tripod and try to take some nice up-to-date “In Progress” pictures with some nice surroundings.

I will try my best to cook up some Beef Ribs ala Dave this Sunday.  There are two ways to cook them:
·         Grilled = direct heat
·         BBQ = indirect heat
To ensure tenderness I like to finish them off in the oven. On most occasions I personally do this, but not always.

I need a new BBQ/Grill combo unit. I would like to do all the outside cooking all on one unit. I might even make one myself, but that would have to wait until mid spring.

I have a fun filled weekend scheduled for myself:
  • ·         Photo shoot
  • ·         Final closet “Sheering” (for now lol)
  • ·         Cooking
  • ·         Start garage clean up project (not fun)
  • ·         Soloflex assessment and clean-up

I am living in a Zero Carb Fantasy Land right now. Yes, I know it’s real, but it all seems like a dream. Just a short while ago I was way overweight and miserable with myself on the weight front, energy front, the self confidence front and many others. Now I look at LIFE with a new (ZC) zeal. I am truly happy and (ZC) has helped me get there.

Have a Great (ZC) Day and Weekend my Friends and (ZC) Family. Take me to the Point of No Return!!!

1/27/2011 - Daily Update - At What Cost?

Greetings Friends. My Spirits and Energy levels are on the Up and Up. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

I could not help myself………………..I did it………….I will confess. Yesterday I went to pick up my new camera. While out and about I decided to go ……………………….. SHOPPING!!!! Yes, I bought another pair of slacks and some black jeans. I will go thru my closet and make sure that all shirts and pants that are not my current size are banished FOREVER!

I am wearing the pants I bought today. It is really nothing outlandish, just some kakis. The exciting part for me was the size and how well they fit. Funny thing, while I was looking at the pants I noticed a rack of pants that had stretchable sides.  OMG are you kidding me. They stated that they stretch up to 2 inches. So OK, if I wore size 44 I could buy 42 with the stretch sides and feel good about myself. INCREDIBLE! Jeez I found a new diet. It’s called the “Stretch Diet”. Why do folks just “cheat” themselves into thinking that it’s OK to play a number game?

Yesterday I tried on a shirt marked “Medium” that must have been Extra Large. That shirt wrapped around me pretty good. The first thing I thought was that it was mislabeled, not that mediums are not too large for me.
I am wearing all new cloths today and feeling like a million dollars. The (ZC) Life is Great.  I may not have spent a whole lot on the clothes, but the satisfaction of the “FIT” is almost overwhelming!!!

Have a Great (ZC) Day my Friends and (ZC) Family. Live Long!! Be Strong!! Battle On!!!

1/26/2011 - Daily Update - Mellow Yellow

Good day all. My Spirits and Energy levels are good. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

I went shopping yesterday evening again for slacks and shirts. Funny thing, all the shirts that I tried on fit fine around tummy area, but some were too small around the chest.  That has never happened to me in the past. I was able to score two nice shirts and a nice pair of slacks (flat fronts). It was really fun. I think I will do a little more shopping this weekend and see what’s out there.  I will also go through my closet and get rid of the last “old me” close out. Yes, a fresh new start. A new start on Life, a new start indeed.

I ran out of Fatty Beef Brisket yesterday, so I scored a 12 pounder on my way home from clothes shopping. $1.68 lb is very reasonable. I got it a HEB. I decided to give hickory a break and bought some Mesquite wood chips. IMO it has a little more mellow taste to it. I cook it outside on the gas grill on the top (warming) rack with a drip pan beneath it to catch all the lovely fat and juices. I also put my caste iron wood box next to it and there you go. I cooked it outside for 2 hours at 350 and finished it off in the oven at 400 degrees for additional hour and a half. I just simply took the brisket from the top rack of the BBQ and placed it in the drip pan, covered the top in foil and placed it in the oven. The flavor was great.

Today is a Great day in the Life of (ZC). My Friends and (ZC) Family, I am in a great mellow mood today. I’m just feeling……………………GREAT.  Battle on!!!

1/25/2011 - Daily Update - For Whom the Carb Tolls

Greetings All. For Whom the Carb Tolls. My Spirits and Energy levels are in check. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

Carbs, Carbs and more Carbs.  HI there. Don’t mind me I was thinking out loud; hey I’m weird like that lol! No, really. Why the rant? Why indeed. Why ask why? I will tell you why. Oh Jeez enough with the “Whys”. Did I get your attention? Hahaha!!!  It got mine lol! So, we are living in a carb filled world. Surrounded, Out Gunned and Overwhelmed. So what is a (ZC)er to do. What indeed. Well I Tell You What: Let the Carbs come. Yes, send them right in. We have no control in the world around us. For some fortunate ones among us we can control the Home Front. That is not the case for Me and probably most I assume. I am out gunned three to one in my home. So do I lose? Do I buckle? Do I just lie down and die? No, Not just No, but Hell NO!!! I have the Ultimate Force Field: ZERO CARB Basic Survival Training 101.

I believe I have gotten to a stage where I look at life with new (ZC) eyes. As more time passes the more I realize that there is far more to Life than the Food we eat. I am still not to the point where I look at food simply as fuel. I wish I was. I still enjoy tastes and presentation very much. A giant Beef Rib is eye candy for me lol!!!  So, unfortunately I am not there yet. I hope to be there someday. I can only will wait and see.

Take Me High, Take Me Low, Take Me Where I want to Go. You can't take my Joy from me since I found Serenity.

Life is Good and it can only get better with (ZC). So many changes for the Good. So many changes for the Better. What a Great Feeling to have the burden of my day to day struggle of weight being slowly lifted from my shoulders. It is indeed a slow ride. There have been a few bumps in the road, so what? I have learned from them and I am still learning. I have made mistakes along the way. That’s how I learn. I take those bumps in the road and turn them around to educate myself, to better myself and to make me strong. I still have not forgotten the “Man in the Mirror”. He is 100% responsible for everything I do.

I had an all time low today on (ZC)= 194.0 lbs

Have a Great (ZC) Day my Friends and Zero Carb Family. Live Long!! Be Strong!! Always, Always Battle On!!!

1/24/2011 - Weekly Update - Weathering the Strom

Weathering the Strom. My Spirits and Energy Levels are good. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

Today marks 31 weeks of (ZC) and this is my Progress Report:

6/21/10=260lbs 6/28/10=255lbs 7/5/10=252lbs 7/12/10=247.5lbs 7/19/10=245.8lbs 7/26/10=245.6lbs 8/2/10=244.8lbs 8/9/10=240.6lbs 8/16/10=240.4lbs 8/23/10=239.8lbs 8/30/10=238.4lbs 9/6/10=234.2lbs 9/13/10=230.2lbs 9/20/10=228.8lbs 9/27/10=225.6lbs 10/4/2010=221.6lbs 10/11/2010=221.4lbs 10/18/2010=218.0lbs 10/25/2010=216.0lbs 11/1/10=213.6lbs 11/8/1 =211.8lbs 11/15/10=207.4lbs 11/22/10=???lbs 11/29/10=206.8lbs 12/6/10=204.4lbs 12/13/10=202.8lbs 12/20/10=199.4lbs 12/27/10=197.8lbs 1/3/2011=196.8lbs 1/10/11=196.0lbs 1/18/11=195.0 1/24/11=194.6lbs

It looks like the (ZC) Express has slowed a little. I have had the privilege to enjoy the ride for a while now.  So therefore I have decided to give the all Biscuits and Gravy diet a shot. I promise to use only Sausage Gravy…………NOT!! Hahaha!!! Seriously have been truly blessed on this Journey. All I have to do is eat, eat and eat. I swear it blows the minds of the ever so increasing folks who are asking: “How did you lose all that weight?” My answer: “I just eat plenty of Beef, Fat and drink only water.” They usually reply "isn't that dangerous?"  and “what about the exercise?” I usually say "dangerous is being at 260lbs and gaining with no end in sight." and “well, lifting the spoon to my mouth can be a nice workout lol!”  I guess I can look at them “CRAZY Like” and say “Danger is my middle name!” and then break out in a loud laugh! Now that would be a hoot.

I am dragging butt today. The lack of sleep last night due to the power outage is catching up to me. Don’t get me wrong. I am a little sleepy, but my physical energy is great. I could jump into “Battle Mode” at the drop of a hat.

I was hungry as soon as I got to work this morning so I have already eaten my first meal of today. I only bring one meal with me and so far that has been enough to hold me for the day or until I get home. Worst case scenario I could make a mercy run to Jack in the Box and order some Beef Patties. I have not had to do that for a while.  They sure do make a mean quick meal for the right price.

My resolve form Zero Carb has never been stronger. My determination is unspoken. I have no reservations, I have no doubt. This is where I need to be. (ZC)er for LIFE!

Today I wore some of my new clothes. YYYYYEEEESSSS!!!!! It felt great this morning to put on my size Medium Shirt Y’ALL, and my smaller size pants. New clothes make a new person. Isn’t that an old saying? Well my new smaller size clothes make me feel just new. I’m telling you: something inside has changed for the Good. I never want to let go of this feeling…………….Never. I feel like I’m reborn. Who is that person that started this Journey? I look at pictures of him from the past and don’t quite know who he is. I want to thank him for starting this Journey and suffering the mental and physical pains. I want to thank him for staying strong, staying true, for battling it out with the things that would keep him from getting to where he needed to go. I think I will give the poor chap a rest and pick up where he left off and continue the Battle while he regroups for the future. Ladies and Gentleman of the Jury I tell you this: MY Journey has just begun. I am still away from what I can perceive as my “Right Weight” and when I get there, I still have the rest of my LIFE to contend with living in a SAD world.

Today I had an all time low on (ZC)= 194.6lbs

Have a Great Day my Friends and Zero Carb Family. Stay Strong!! Live Long!! Battle On!!!

1/24/2011 - Power Out

Wow I'm up way to late. I thought I would drop a quick post before heading off to bed. We had a power out and I could not sleep. It is on now and I feel better about going to bed with things closer to normal. Sunday was a great day. I had a great time at church and then did a little shopping with (DW). I ate my fatty beef brisket and was it yummy. Before we got home for the day (DW) was in the mood for Pizza. So we went off to Papa Johns and picked up some of my old favorites: two "the works" yes they had everything on them. I tell you what: the smell kinda got to me. Well it must have been the meat on them. Hahaha!!! Man when I got home I shoved a few cold pieces of brisket down my throat for good measure lol! Hey you gotta do what you gotta do to walk the line. I was all better after that. (DW) felt sorry for me and said that I deserved I piece of pizza for being so good for the las seven months. OMG she does not get it. She was not being mean, she really does not get it.

Well it is raining cats and dogs out. I can't complain we need the rain. Thank God I work indoors and park in a garage. So much for the little talk, time to hit the hay.

1/23/2011 Daily Update - It Is In Your Hands

Good Sunday All. My Spirits and Energy Levels are Soaring higher than High! No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

What a great Sunday y’all. I tell you what: I just came back from Mass and I am energized to the Max. It’s a funny thing how the Moral of the Mass applies to Zero Carb. How you may ask? Well How can I put this without stirring the religious pot? I got it: the message was be a (ZC)er everyday not just on Sundays. “Yes!” I thought to myself he is right. We should never take a vacation for the things we believe in. Being a (ZC)er is a fulltime job. No vacations, no breaks just (ZC).

Wow how simple is that? I will walk that straight and narrow road of (ZC) who will join me? I am guessing ALL or you would not be here. (ZC) is easy in the sense your choices are limited. That is a good thing. The bad thing is that temptation in all forms and smells are around us tempting us to do the wrong thing. That is when we pull out the “stuff” inside us to keep us doing what is right.

Hey, I Tell You What: You can do it. You can defeat the urges and temptations. You are Stronger and more Powerful than you think. Remember where you are. Remember what got you Here. Cling to it for Life! The choice is always in you hands. Do the Right Thing.

Do I here an amen lol. No my new name is not Rev. Dave. I just felt compelled to give this message out. It was that little voice inside me, similar to that little message I gave Jenifer a while back.

I had a new all time low on (ZC) = 194.8 lbs

Have a Great Sunday my Friends and Zero Carb Family. Keep On Keeping On and Keep the Faith!!!

1/22/2011 - Daily Update - Born Free

Good Tidings. My Spirits and Energy levels are good. No cravings, no cheats, and no tummy troubles.

What a beautiful day in the woodlands. Today has been bright and sunny. Clear blue skies a with a slight chill in the air. The household took some time out. We first hit a seafood restaurant. What did Dave eat? Nothing. Why? Because I was not hungry. The other three ate deep fried breaded catfish and a coupe of sides each. I suppose I could have eaten some grilled fish, but I was simply not ready to eat my first meal of the day. This was at noon and I was a little surprised that I was not ready to eat.

We then went to the water way and enjoyed a nice slow walk along the water. We made two stops to take a little rest. I personally did not need any breaks, but a couple in our little party are over 80 years old and they needed a little break. We continued our walk to the Market Street area and enjoyed sitting at the little park basking in the sun. Before that we visited a new establishment called the “Cupcakery”. They sell fancy cupcakes at $3+ a shot. (DW) and company tasted some of the samples and said that they were not much better than boxed cake batter. Well of course I did not partake in the tasting lol!!!

After basking in the sun for a little while we headed back to our start point via the trolley. We did a little shopping at Hubble and Hudson and enjoyed listen to a live jazz trio stationed on the second floor next to the Viking Cooking School. The jazz trio usually plays outside during good weather. We had a great time just being together and enjoying the beautiful scenes.

I finally ate my first meal at 3pm. I polished off the last of my BBQ Beef ribs. Wow were they GREAT. The flavors were out of this world. I am so tempted to buy a couple of more racks and make some more. I might just do that tomorrow. I still have a lot of that yummy Fatty Beef Brisket left.

I am just going to jell for the rest of the day and enjoy a little down time. I want to work on my Blog and tweak it a little. I hope every one is enjoying the weekend rather at work or play.

Have a Great (ZC) Day my Friends and (ZC) Family. No Surrender!! No Retreat!!

1/21/11 - Daily Update - 7 Months Anniversary on Zero Carb

Stand and Deliver. My Spirits and Energy Levels are hanging tough.  No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

First of all today Marks my Seven (7) month Anniversary on Zero Carb (ZC).

All is well on the (ZC) front. I had an extended conversation about (ZC) with some visitors at my office yesterday.  They were fascinated with my weight loss.  One of them has been to my office in the past and was totally shocked at my progress. I discussed my recent labs and that seem to put it over the top. It almost appeared that he might venture down this road……..maybe.

I placed a “Before” and “In Progress” photos on my office wall. I have posted these before on the forum and blog. These are for quick reference for visitors so I do not have to go on the web to show them.

I have to say at this point on (ZC) considering all that has transpired; I am more dedicated than ever. The recent test results have reinforced what I hoped to be True about this (WOE). I have only been on this for seven months as of today and though some may feel that’s a long time, I feel that it is still new to Me. Who knows maybe after a year I will feel more at home with it. One advantage about it still feeling new is that I am as excited about (ZC) as the first day. That’s a Good Thing!!!

Have a Great Day My Friends and (ZC) Family. Keep the Faith and Battle On!!!

1/20/2011 - Daily Update - Results In - VAP

My Eyes have seen the Glory. My Spirits and Energy Levels are still riding High! No cravings, No cheats and No tummy troubles.

I Finally got back my VAP test yesterday. It is a very detailed test with tons of information. Well at the end of the day my "LDL Density Pattern" = "A". Yes the large fluffy buoyant harmless category. The Doc still recommended taking over-the-counter Niacin 500 mg to lower my "bad" cholesterol and increase the "good" cholesterol. Has any taken this form of therapy?

I tell you what: I am happy to be Vindicated. So all the doubters...........well..........how can I say this in a nice way? Or should I say it in a nice way? Yes I will be nice and say Nana, nana, na......na, I TOLD YOU SO!!!!!

There, I got it out of my system. Hahaha!!!

How do (ZC)ers spell relief? B-E-E-F & F-A-T!!!!!

Alright, back on track. I had a few folks that were riding on my VAP results to help determine if they would go with (ZC). No real commitments, just consideration. So what does this do for Dave? Truthfully this is a BIG moral booster for Me. I have been preaching (ZC) to anyone who would listen, yet I had mostly pointed to facts on the web. Now with my weight loss, and Great Test results: I have More Punch to my Line!

Last night I got the wild hair and cooked a Fatty Beef Brisket and two slabs of Beef ribs on the patio. I had two grills fired up at the same time. I used lump coal in my medium size Weber grill to cook the Beef ribs and my gas grill to cook the Fatty Beef Brisket. I used indirect heat on the brisket with a wood box containing Hickory chips. I replenished the wood box with fresh hickory chips  three times.

I tell you what: those Beef ribs kicked "Phil's BBQ ribs in the butt. Why, because he mainly bakes his in the oven and at the end throws them on a gas grill for a few minutes covered in BBQ sauce. Mine are cooked on lump coal the entire time with hickory chips. Yes, his had a little more meat on the bone, but the flavor tells the whole story. With mine you get a nice flavor that does not require BBQ sauce. This is of course my opinion, but I have been cooking "Real" Texas style BBQ for over 25 years and the oven can't replace a pit. Don't get me wrong. The ribs at Phil's are good, real good. For baked ribs and plenty of meat too.

After I cooked the meat last night I could help myself and ate half a rack of the Beef ribs and sampled the brisket. I ate way too much. I felt like a "Coke" fiend with a new score lol! I was not hungry and this is way out of my character. Scary to say the least.

Have a Great Day my Friends and (ZC) Family. Keep the Faith and Battle On!!!

1/19/2011 - Daily Update - Bring On the Sheers

Bring On the Sheers. My Spirits and Energy Levels are through the ROOF!!!! No Cravings, No Cheats and No Tummy Troubles.

I am Riding High Today My Friends and Zero Carb Family. My Energy is surging like no other. There is ssssoooo much PEP in my step that I have to walk softly or I will bounce up and hit the ceiling!!!! Hahaha!!!!!

The way I usually manage energy surges while chained to my desk is to put my ear buds on and Google some dance music and let my feet tap. Lately my favorites have been three ditties from Expose’: “Point of No Return”, “Exposed to Love”, and “Come Go with Me”. I can listen to these songs over and over again tapping my feet and dancing in my head until I get tired lol!!! It’s OK really; I’m just WEIRD like that.

***Take Me High, Take Me Low, Take Me where I want to Go. You can’t take my Joy from Me, Now that I found SERENITY***

I went through my closet and decided some things must go pretty soon. Let the sheering begin. I went ahead and broke the bank a little and went SHOPPING!!!! Yes, I treated myself to a few items yesterday evening. I can fit in a Medium Shirt!!!!! OMG. I also can fit (snugly) into pants that are two sizes Smaller than what I currently wear every day. It was so much fun trying on cloths that fit nicely and just looking at the Man in the Mirror and thinking “Not Bad, not bad at all”. I tell you what: It’s been a long road to get here my Friends and Zero Carb Family. A very, very long road, so please excuse me. I just can’t help being proud of this accomplishment. I am usually a pretty low key guy most of the time believe it or not.

I ended up buying three pairs of flat front slacks (thank you very much) and four long sleeve button up shirts. The pants that I currently use are beginning to loosen. I just started to fit in them a couple or so months ago. Jeez, I am not complaining, but these are the last of the smallest sizes I have left in closet.

My boss brought in an assortment doughnuts and kolaches this morning and I will tell you the truth: for some reason today, they actually smell good. It is like a vanilla smell. Yes, I will Stay Strong and Not fall into temptation. I wish that they did not smell so good to me today (barf). Go Figure? I think it’s time to eat a steaming bowl of yummy Fatty Beef Brisket!

Have a Great Day my Friends and Zero Carb Family. Fight the Good Fight and Battle On!!!

1/18/2011 - Weekly Update - To the Rescue

(ZC) Paradise. My Spirits and Energy levels are up and away! No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.
Yesterday marks 30 weeks of (ZC) and this is my Progress Report:

6/21/10=260lbs 6/28/10=255lbs 7/5/10=252lbs 7/12/10=247.5lbs 7/19/10=245.8lbs 7/26/10=245.6lbs 8/2/10=244.8lbs 8/9/10=240.6lbs 8/16/10=240.4lbs 8/23/10=239.8lbs 8/30/10=238.4lbs 9/6/10=234.2lbs 9/13/10=230.2lbs 9/20/10=228.8lbs 9/27/10=225.6lbs 10/4/2010=221.6lbs 10/11/2010=221.4lbs 10/18/2010=218.0lbs 10/25/2010=216.0lbs 11/1/10=213.6lbs 11/8/1 =211.8lbs 11/15/10=207.4lbs 11/22/10=???lbs 11/29/10=206.8lbs 12/6/10=204.4lbs 12/13/10=202.8lbs 12/20/10=199.4lbs 12/27/10=197.8lbs 1/3/2011=196.8lbs 1/10/11=196.0lbs 1/18/11=195.0

I keep on being blessed on this (WOE). It appears that my progress has slowed a bit. I am just happy to be able to report any type of loss. Rather in pounds or in ounces. I am truly thankful. I will continue doing what is right and let (ZC) take me to where it goes. The only control that I have is what I put in my mouth..

I have to say that I had just a wonderful time at San Diego. The weather was sunny and clear the entire time. I just love visiting my family there. They are always very welcoming and accommodating. My sister went
out of her way to ensure that I had plenty of (ZC) foods at hand. I cannot thank her enough.

I will be posting up to date “In Progress” pictures soon.  The last one I posted was just before the San Antonio Meat Up. I have lost a few more pounds since then. At the San Diego meet up Teri’s (DH) noticed that I had lost some weight.

Lately I have noticed my appetite decreasing. I can consume a much smaller amount of protein and be satisfied for long periods of time. I wonder if this is just some kind of (ZC) phase?  I will run with it and see where it takes me. What else can I do lol!!!

I have got to say that this last Fatty Beef Brisket and it is the best tasting dang Brisket I ever made. The balance of flavors is wonderful. I would have thought that I would be tired of it by now. Although I ate Beef Ribs and Rib eyes while in San Diego, this Brisket is really kicking BUTT!!!

I know I have posted this before, but I continue having this feeling of that (ZC) has taken me to “The Point of No Return”. That song from Expose’ keeps churning in my mind. Acuttually I am listening to it over and over again as I type. NO I am not a NUT CASE. Hahaha!!! Now if you could really hear that mad scientist laugh you might raise an eyebrow lol!!! OK stop the madness! HHHMMM large butterfly nets in my future. Hahaha!!!! Ooops that laugh again! Alright already!!!

I had an all time low today on (ZC) = 195.0lbs

Have a Great (ZC) Day my Friends and (ZC) Family. Keep On Keeping On and Battle On!!!

1/17/2011 - Daily Update - The Road Home

Greetings All. My Spirits and Energy Levels are great. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

This trip has been a most successful campaign. For a short stay a lot of things were done. I had the privilege to dine with fellow (ZC)ers, I visited with Family and old acquaintances. I had the privilege again to be a Godfather, I cut the rug a little at the casino club. The Most important part of this whole trip was to spend time with my Family. The talks, the quiet times, the hugs, the kisses, the simple joy of being with those you LOVE. It is more than anything I could imagine. I can't wait for my next trip out here.

I SURVIVED yet another party chocked full carbs screaming at me "TAKE ME IT'S OK. IT'S A CELEBRATION AFTER ALL!"  The fare included: Pinwheels, Croissant Sandwiches, Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad, Assorted Chips, Veggie Plater, Fruit Platter, and the grand finally Cake. The only "safe harbor" was a Shrimp Tray in which I ate three.  Yes, those voices spoke to me and I tried to make sense of it, but I Stood Strong. Everyday is a battle for me. Everyday I must make those choices that keep me on the Straight and Narrow. At the end of the day, I only need to look in the mirror to see who is responsible for what I eat. No Excuses, No Blame.........Just ME!

Stay Strong my Fellow (ZC)ers, fight that battle, stand tall, temptation is always just around the corner. We live in the real world, a world that looks at us as freaks. To most we are the oddballs, we are abnormal. I Tell You What: Let them cringe, let them frown..............I am doing this for me, myself and I. The end result is that everyone around me will benefit from a new mean lean Me. At the end of the day my Great Health will make me a better Person. This Better Person will continue to go down the road taking care of his daily obligations, but with a  new bright outlook on Life.

I will post my Weekly Update tomorrow.

Have a Great (ZC) Day My Friends and (ZC) Family. No Surrender!! No Retreat!! Never Say Die!!!

1/16/2011 - Daily Update - Make Everyday Count

Good Tidings. My Spirits and Energy Levels are Great! No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

Today has been really nice. I am here in San Diego for a Baptism of my nephew’s son. I have the honor of being the Godfather. The ceremony went great in the church. I am very proud to have the honor of being selected for my part. We are also celebrating my nephew’s son’s birthday today. What a joyous event.

Last night we went to the club at the Viejas Casino. They had a retro 70’s/80’s band playing. We had a wonderful time. I got to dance a little. We all had a great time listening to the music. Most of the songs played were before my time, but it was still a lot of fun.

Staying (ZC) has been real easy during my stay. I actually was asked a lot of questions concerning my (WOE). All the questions appeared to be genuine. I had a good feeling of acceptance. This really made me feel comfortable. I don’t know if anyone is going to jump aboard with this (WOE), but I will give them any support that I am capable of.

Tomorrow I will leave back home. I swear the time goes too fast when visiting love ones. I am glad that I was able to spend a little time with my extended (ZC) Family while I was here. That will stick with me for a lifetime.

Have a Great (ZC) Day my Friends and (ZC) Family. Keep On Keeping On and Battle On!!!

1/15/2011 - Daily Update - Still Riding High

Just another Great Day in the life of (ZC)! My Spirits and Energy levels are just surging. No cravings, no cheats and no tummy troubles.

I have to say that I am simply in Bliss from this whole trip. I am happy to report that (ZC) has oh so good to me. My (DS) bought a ton of Beef for me to eat. There was a Rib eye roast that I cut up into 5 nice size steaks, also over three pounds of Ground Beef, and a couple of family packs of NY strip steaks. Gee I have enough food here for a couple of week’s lol!!! Man do I appreciate that. I pan fried one of those Rib eyes yesterday and chowed down like a big dog.

Today we are just going to let the day take us to where we going to go. Tonight is a different story. We are going out to a place called Viejas Casino. So, a little play time there and then off to the club on site. I have not gone out to dance in a long time. I still think I can cut the rug a little. Back in the day I was quiet the dancer. Hahaha!!! No, really I used to love to dance. Well in my new (ZC) body I’m sure to remember some of my smooth dancing moves lol!!!! OK y’all can stop laughing now.

Have a Great (ZC) Day my Friends and (ZC) Family. Keep the Faith and Battle On!!

(ZC) You can bet your Life

1/14/2011 Daily Update - San Diego Meat Up

Great Day All, My Spirits are beyond Belief. My energy level is good. No cravings, No cheats and No tummy troubles.

I Tell You What: Yesterdays Meat Up was just Wonderful. Gaby, Teri, and I had a most Joyful time. We kept talking and talking like old friends. I had just as much fun as I did at the San Antonio Meat Up. It's all about the Company. These two ladies were warm and gracious. They treated me like a true friend. It really touched me. I look forward to a day when I will be able to meet with them again.
Dave, Teri and Gaby

One Big Bee Rib OMG!!!

I hope everyone enjoyed the pictures. At first my camera acted up and I had to use my blackberry and those pictures were not very good. Fortune was with us and the camera began to work and we got, what I think, were some great pictures of the event.

The restaurant and the food was good, But my companions were the BEST part of the whole evening. I could have been at Jack in the Box eating the beef patties with water and had just as good of time as long as my companions were the same. Can you tell I had a Great Time? Hahaha!!! I just can't describe the feeling of having folks around you that share common ground with you. Thank you: Gaby and Teri I will never forget the time I spent with you. Battle On!!!
