Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 95

Yesterday was a really nice day. I stayed up after work to avoid taking a nap. I took a long walk instead. The weather was cool and relaxing. It will be getting really hot in about a month and I will most likely be indoors at that time. I'm almost out of brisket. I have a couple of meals left. I have pork ribs, beef burgers, sausage, bacon, ham,1 whole chicken, and pan sausage in the freezer. I won't run out of meat anytime soon. I always keep eggs on hand. My same front teeth still hurt when drinking cold water. So far I have been gaining a lot of confidence with my new zero carb lifestyle. I did not have any carvings nor any stomach issues. I did have a positive movement on the scale and can report another .5 pound loss. That makes 12 pounds in 3 months. That is with no food intake restrictions. No starvation. Just eat and drink without any real exercise at all. I'm good with that. My clothes fit real nice and I am really happy. Someone actually asked me today if I lost weight. She said my face looked thinner. That made me really happy. I increased my water intake a little. Sometime I was go a long time between drinking water and it made me feel a little groggy. Water actually perks me up a little and it is really refreshing. I cut down on coffee a little. Thanks for sharing my zero carb experience with me.

1st meal: 16 oz brisket and water

2nd meal: 4 eggs, 6 slices of bacon, 6 oz of pan sausage and water

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 94

Yesterday I was back at work. I felt like I wanted to take another day off. I guess I should not say that with this economy and the incorrect unemployment figures. I always hear of people having a hard time finding good paying jobs. That's not zero carb related. I settled into work and then found out that I might be assigned to a 2 week special assignment. I will find out more on Thursday. Whatever it is I won't let it get in the way of my eating pattern. I am not shy to take food with me wherever I go. I had a lot of work to do today. Then we had a late meeting that lasted forever. My first meal of the lasts me for many hours. Lately I have been eating earlier in the day at work I used to hold out after about 5 hours at work. Now I find myself eating around 2-3 hours after I start work. I usually don't get hungry again until late evening. My mouth still hurts in the bottom and a little on the top front 4 teeth. They really dug in deep in that area. The sides are still a little tender but no big deal. I had some positive movement on the scale, just not enough to report it at this time. It's funny to me how I am enjoying breakfast type foods for my last meal of the day. So far I am not burned out. I might take out some burgers and grill them this weekend for a little change. I like to put mayo and mustard on top of them. I don't do it to simulate a regular hamburger. I just like the taste and the burgers can be dry if over cooked. No cravings  or runs today. I want to give a special shout out to Heidi for the comment of support. Thanks everyone else for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 93

I woke up Monday to get ready for work and was not feeling like I wanted to get up. I did not sleep very well the night before and was still a bit groggy. I decided to call work and take the day off. I went back to sleep and rested. I got up later that morning feeling much better. I guess I was traumatized by the seafood platter incident lol. I ate a nice first meal and decided to make the most of the day. I did not want to lay around in bed, so I visited my mom. I had not seen her in awhile. We had  good visit. She offered me all kinds of snacks and I asked for some plain black coffee. I then got home in the early evening and decided to grill the chicken thighs and sausage. I have a real large package of sausage of about 3 pounds. After everything was cooked I ate a nice meal. It was really good and I enjoyed it very much. This unexpected day off started out not so good and ended on a great note. My mouth is better, but again the bottom front teeth below the gum still hurt a little. No movement on the scale today. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me. I will post early tomorrow about today's (Tuesday's) events.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 92

Sunday was a good day. A strange chain of events occurred that day. I ate my first meal of the day in the late morning. It was really good. Then I had an unexpected visitor. I real good friend dropped by to spend some time with me. We had a real good visit. Then she wanted to go out to eat lunch. I was still very full and did not want to eat anything at the moment. She insisted that we go out. So we went to a seafood restaurant called the Ragin Cajun. It's a seafood restaurant. It's one of those places that you order at the counter and they bring it to you or they call your number. I guess it depends on how lazy they are feeling at the moment. So she ordered the seafood platter and I ordered a plain ice tea. She was surprised and insisted that I order something, but I held strong and told her that I had just ate a large breakfast and was not hungry at all. After we got the food she proceeded to put the plate in between us to share. It was a large platter of food. Again I told her that I was not hungry and I preferred for her to put the plate in front of her and eat. She did so, but kept insisting that I try some the the fried fish, shrimp and oysters. I kept smiling and saying no. She then had about a third of her plate left and once again insisted that I try some. I asked her if she was sure that she could not eat another bit and she said yes. I got up and asked for a take out box. I then load it the box with her leftovers and place them in a bag and gave it to her. Now that was a true test of my will. I love seafood. I would have ordered my own platter in the past and ate what she did not finish from her platter. Not today. I know my friend was trying to be kind. After that we went for a nice walk at the park then I went back home and she left. I was so full from my fist meal that I did not eat a second meal and decided to delay cooking on the outdoor grill. So the meat got to marinade another day. My mouth is much better except the very bottom on the front bottom. I still hurts there with cold liquids. No movement on the scale today. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me.

Morning fast: none

4/26/2015 - Blast from the PAST - Entry #9

Greetings all,

Two posts again. I am not sure which one goes first so I will continue to follow to post the one that has the STATS last. Start your engines, get ready, and GO!!! Go where Dave? OK stop that, whoever you are. OK, comedy time over.  The next installment of “Blast from the PAST:

Original Stardate: 7/9/2010

Wow, my H2O consumption has hit its all-time high at work. I started by taking 1 liter of water about 2 1/2 weeks ago (when I started to ZC) and today I just cracked open my FOURTH bottle! I still have about 2 hours until I head to the house. I ate my first meal (6 oz steak) at around 8:00 AM. I have been taking either two (2) GB patties or Steak or a combination. If I have some Oopsie rolls, I'll take two and make a dry sandwich with one of the meats. I probably shouldn't get too excited about the water, but it's a milestone for me.

People at work think I’m crazy being on ZC. I mess with them saying “I am on that all Bacon Diet”. If only you could see the expressions on their face. There is one that asked me for help losing weight and I referred her to ZIOH. I told her what I know of ZC and that in a nutshell Animal Kingdom “GOOD” Plant Kingdom “EVIL" This was about a week ago. Today I asked her (as I was munching on my Steak) how are you doing with your eating? She said “I’m eating meat” I said “how did you do on your extended weekend” and she replied “I cheated a little” So I threw her a bone.

My DW thinks that I’m eating an unbalanced diet. She works in the Health Profession. She recommended that I eat less and add veggies (Yuk). She offered me a piece of that pizza (Veggies only) that I posted about earlier because she felt sorry for me. Her heart is in the right place, but she just does not understand the concept (she is old school). It does not help that her Aunt is a Doctor. Hopefully the results will do all the talking for me.

Original Stardate: 7/9/2010 (second post same day)

Last night I had my first craving (oh no!!). Was it for cake (no) was it for pie (no) was it for a big steaming bowl of Wolf Brand Chili (not quite). It was for BEEF. I thought to myself "INCREDIBLE". I never thought that I would have a craving for that since I was not a big beef eater before this WOE. So, I went to the freezer grabbed one of my frozen precooked steaks (about 4oz) nuked it and ate it. Just like that, craving gone. I continue spending time in the FAQ “On Charles” to learn more about this WOE. I went to the Support Forum and did some reading there. As I stated before, it's a wealth of knowledge. I encourage folks (just visiting this site) that are considering this WOE to read the FAQ and On Charles areas.

I experienced a little tummy trouble this morning, nothing major. I'm real enthusiastic about ZC and I will continue on this Journey.

260/249.8/185
Overall health (1-10):8
Energy level (1-10):7
Cravings: Yes, for beef.
Today's Menu: Steak, H2O

Observation:

There we go again with the H20. Ha! OK being hydrated is oh so important, but at this point somehow I thought that drinking all he water possible was a good thing (drink when thirsty). Jeez I even call it a milestone….how embarrassing. I still use the line: “All Bacon Diet” today. People just roll their eyes. I also use the “Animal vs Plant Kingdom” deal all the time. Look-it: I don’t believe in “Cheat Days” I think it is a cop-out. All you are doing is CHEATING yourself. OK look at it this way. “I only eat poison once a week or once a month”. Really?? For those that want to lose weight Cheat days can be a Giant Killer. It may lead to other things that you might not recover from and may even spark a being. Of course this is just my little opinion. I wrote that I craved Beef and I remember someone at the forum question it and did not believe anyone could crave Beef. I have to say it was a downer for someone riding on a (ZC) high. In retrospect maybe that person was right. Maybe I was craving the Fat not the Beef itself. I dunno??? At this point I was still experiencing tummy troubles, but still enthusiastic about all things (ZC).

Have a Healthy Day my Family and Friends. Don’t Cheat (Days) yourself. (ZC) is the way we are built to eat. Those other things only give us a cheap high and then we come crashing down. Keep the Faith and Always Battle On!!!

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 91

Today was a great day. I went out for the day with some friends. We went out to eat, shopped for cloths and food. We then went to the park to chill and talk. I am sure you are wandering where I went out to eat and what I ate. I know in the past I have mentioned that I stay away from Chinese buffets. That is not totally true. I did mention somewhere in the past that the only one I would go to has to offer safe zero carb food not loaded with hidden carbs. There is such a place. I rarely go there because it's a little far. This restaurant is a mega huge place with all kinds of stuff. I get two things while I am there. Boiled shrimp and steamed snow crab and that's it. That is exactly what I ate. It was really good and fresh. I paced myself and did not over eat. We were in no rush and there was plenty to eat. I also could have eaten boiled crayfish. They had tons of it. I was not in the mood for it. It is crayfish season right now so I might get some next weekend. HEB boils them fresh right in front of their store on Saturday. Tomorrow I will BBQ some chicken thighs (with skin and bone-in) and chappell hill sausage. I marinade the chicken thighs with garlic and onion powder, salt and pepper. I also mentioned that I bought some clothes. To my surprise I dropped 1 size down on the waist. It was a really nice feeling. No movement on the scale today. My mouth is getting much better from the dentist visit. I did not have the runs today. That's about it. Thanks for sharing my zero carb experience with me and for your support.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 90

My mouth is getting better. It still hurts a little but it is manageable. I had another round of the runs today. My stomach does not hurt at all. I think it is because of the brisket I am eating. It is extremely greasy. I am continuing to eat eggs and other things besides brisket for my second meal. I like the change and most of it is softer for me to eat. I increased my second meal intake. Sometimes later at night I might feel a little hunger or maybe it is a carving. I am not sure. So eating a little more seems to help. I rather eat a larger second meal than eating a third meal. So far things are looking good and I feel positive about this new lifestyle. Today marks 90 days or about 3 months on zero carb. This lifts me up a lot. No movement on the scale today. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 89

Today was much better dealing with my personal problems. My mouth is still sore, but getting better everyday. I did have a late bout with the runs.Funny thing is that earlier I had regular BMs, then later the runs. My stomach is a little queasy. Nothing real bad just a little uncomfortable. Nothing to mention about work today. That is just one of the vendors brought some fresh fruit salad for everyone. It actually look nice with all the colors. Almost like art. It did not have any effect on me as far as wanting to eat it. It's funny or should I say strange that the person that sits near me had just finished eating a big meal of mostly carbs before the fruit arrived. She then served a big bowl of it and ate it all up. I can relate to that in so many ways. I could never get enough carbs in the past.  I would eat until I couldn't stand it and then feel guilty about it. That was really too late. No movement on the scale today. I want to give a special shout out to Heidi and Monica for their comments of support. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 88

Yesterday was a great day for me. It was the day that I came back here to continue to report my journey through zero carb. I know I keep switching from wanting to post the same day or the day after. I will just post as time is available to me. So it might be the same day or it might be the day after as today. The most important thing for me is to keep some kind of record of the days event in one form or another. Temptations will always be out there. It is just the way you handle it. I have a good friend going through some rough times of her own. Her health issues are multiple and they are all related to her weight. I have tried to encourage her to eat at least low carb, but she can't seem to commit to it. My heart goes out to her. She is a real good person. She works really hard at work and for her family. I wish there was something I could do for her. I guess I can lead in a sense by example. Maybe that would entice her to do better for herself concerning her eating habits. I admire her very much for the way carries herself. She encourages in so many other areas that are not diet or food related. That's why I feel so strong to want to help her. As everyone knows with this diet or any other diet you must want it before you will really commit to it. She is out right now, but when I see her next Monday I will have a nice talk with her and see what I can do to help her. I think she is at the stage know that she is willing to try something to improve her situation. I have reached out to Dave for help in this matter. We are in constant communication through email. He is very good about advising and encouraging me. He is one of the main reasons that I am here today and I can't thank him enough. My mouth still hurts to a degree mostly on my right side. I say that I don't have cravings for carbs, but I have to gauge that on a daily basis. It only takes that one moment of weakness to send you spiraling down that road of no return. Yesterday I had a third meal. I felt like I wanted to eat something. I don't think it was a carb carving. I just wanted to eat. So I open a package of some marked down ham that I bought. It was labeled ham steak. This was thick cut ham like the style of ham that comes right off the bone. I cut it into strips and use mayo as a dipping sauce. After that I was really satisfied and did that have that feeling of wanting to eat. No movement on the scale today. I want to give a special shout out to  Anonymous for the nice welcome back comment of support. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day (s) 80-87

I am back and should not have anymore downtime. I have been going through some rough personal times and felt out of it. This has nothing to do with zero carb. I have actually been doing very well in that area. I have lost more weight. No cravings for carbs and I am really feeling conformable at this time with my zero carb lifestyle change. I have been in contact with Dave and he suggested to take some time off posting and concentrate on my personal problems. I told him I would post on Monday, but I needed a couple of extra days to get myself back into a posting mood. I am back for good and I am excited to be back posting. I will catch up on my missing days in a small post right now. I will post again this evening for today. Last week on Thursday I had my second deep teeth cleaning. That did not help with my mood. My mouth still hurts on the left side from the week before and now my mouth hurts on the right side as well. My gums on the left side are basically OK. My right side gums still hurt. My entire mouth is very sensitive to cold drinks to a degree. When I drink cold water or ice tea it smarts a bit. I do have some sore areas on my right side gums when I bite down on food. It's getting better, but not fast enough for me. Now for some good news, I lost a whole pound! Just before I stopped posting I was at the point to report a .5 pound drop in weight. Since then I dropped another .5 pounds making it a whole pound down. I have been eating mostly eggs, ham and bacon. I started eating brisket the last couple of days and although it hurts a little, I will try to eat it everyday for at least one meal until my mouth heals completely. Then I will consider beef on both meals. I just might mix it up and eat a different protein for my second meal. I is getting boring eating brisket for both meals. I know that I should not look at it that way. I just want to make sure that I give myself the opportunity to avoid any temptations because I am bored or not looking forward to my meal. Things change all the time and I will adjust to them the best way I can. I want to give a special shout out to Dave, Mike, Denis, Monica and Heidi for the support and comments. I will post again this evening. Thanks again everyone for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me.

Morning fast: water and coffee

2nd meal (s): 4 eggs, 5 slices of bacon or 6 oz of ham and water (sometimes for both meals)

4/19/2015 - Blast from the PAST - Entry #8 and Connor Update

Greetings Friends and Family!

Well with this post I find out that I did indeed forget to post that Monday. I have not looked at this post until a bit ago and thought “OK Dave hasn't lost all of his marbles yet”. A great relief to me and my invisible friend…….you know like the one you have……...right? All right now, not everyone speak at the same time…….Ahh the sound of silence……..you gotta love it. I believe that the two posts are in the wrong order, but since the second one has the stats I posted them in that order on purpose. My next installment of “Blast from the PAST”:

Original Stardate: 7/8/2010

A funny thing happened on Monday that I forgot to post. While I was shopping at the grocery store I happened to be near the pharmacy and overheard the pharmacist and her assistant talking. One said "I heard that she is cutting carbs to lose weight" the other said "yeah I tried that and didn't last two days without getting light-headed, so I gave it up" the first one said "yeah and it's bad for your kidneys right?" I wanted to say "OMG are you fricking kidding me", so I just shook my head and continued shopping.

Today we were swamped at work. I had customers out the rear end. I was shorthanded so I helped out my staff for several hours. After playing pizza delivery boy (for DW), I crashed on my bed and fell asleep for about three hours just to recharge my batteries. I noticed that as long as I don't have a lot of activities I'm "ok" but as soon as I have some extra activity "boom" I'm down for the count. Charles said that my energy levels should change upward with time and I agree 100%.

All in all (except for a few minor tummy issues) I feel good about the WOE.

Original Stardate: 7/8/2010 (second post same date)

I feel pretty good today; I got a lot of rest. So far I'm sticking to eating only when I'm hungry. When I was posting last night I started to feel a little green about the gills. It was about 11:30 PM. Then I realized that I had not eaten since about 2:30 PM and at that it was just a GB patty. So I went to the fridge and ate about half a cold Rib eye steak (yes, it was cooked) and drank a large glass of H2O. I almost instantly felt better. I was able to read for a while in the FAQ area. I guess my body was “talking” to me. I have had this feeling in the past and it never occurred to me to eat. I did not have hunger pangs. I still have not had any cravings. In the past I used Splenda all the time. Often I would drink 3-4 cups of regular coffee (12 oz cups) with a couple of packs of AFS and HWC at work. I often made recipes from Lindsue’s site: LC pancakes, muffins, cookies breads and so on. Most of the recipes I would make required AFS.

260/250.8/185
Energy level: good
Overall Health: good
Cravings: None
Today’s Menu: GB, Steak, Oopsie roll (2) & H2O

Observation:

OK, the memory lapse from that Monday was not cause by (ZC). Yes, I was trapped in my vehicle with a steaming hot fresh pizza that engulfed the cab of my truck. Yes, I loved the smell and no it never crossed my mind to eat a slice although (DW) keep asking if I wanted some. Did I mention that she did not support my (WOE) and hounded me to death about it daily? I did have some energy problems at the start of (ZC) as mentioned. Maybe not enough fat for energy?? Also I was having tummy troubles at the start of (ZC). I have my gallbladder removed not too long before starting (ZC) and this may have been the cause. I mention artificial sweeteners. Yes, I admit at one point in time I was a Splenda junkie. Now I am clean and sober.

Have a Healthy Day my Family and Friends. A system free of artificial junk is the SWEETEST gift you can give your body. Battle On!!!

(ZC)er How Sweet it IS

Cheers,

Dave

Connor update: He is doing well and will start to post again on Monday 4/20/2015 with an update on his missing days. He contacted me explaining that was going through a rough spot with some personal issues and I advised him to take some time off and settle them before continuing with his journal. I do not want him to stop posting altogether.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 79

Yesterday was a long day for me. I am going through some personal problems not related to zero carb. Which puts me in somewhat a negative mood. It is nothing that would encourage me to eat carbs. Eating them might give me a quick fix or rush, but in the end would add more problems than I need right now. This will be a short posting. I almost did not post at all. No movement on the scale yesterday. I decided to add a little more food to my meals. I had cut them down to 10 oz, but decided to up them to 12 oz to see how I feel. I am enjoying the brisket very much. I would like to mix it up a little with possibly grill burgers for my second meal. I don't know right now. If I do I will wait for the weekend to buy and grill some burgers. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 78

I have come to a decision to post the next day instead of the same day. I have a little time in the morning most days to write. At the end of the day I am mostly not in the mood to write at this time for whatever reasons. Today I had an unexpected duty to do, so it delayed me a little. On most days I will be able to post early in the morning. So most my posts with begin with the word Yesterday. I will continue this until further notice. Yesterday was a pretty good day for me. It rained a little for most of the day on and off. I really did not feel like doing much since I split my days off for a special project on Saturday. So Sunday was a jell day for me. I was more lazy than I should have been. My mouth is much better, but I decided to eat something soft again until Monday when I plan to start to eat the brisket I prepared last week. I have a ton of it and since I did not delay freezing it, the taste is really fresh. I think I am over the runs, but will have to see what happens when I start to get a double dose of brisket fat on Monday. I will deal with it as it happens. I have had a pretty good run without out carb cravings. I can really appreciate that. I have keep myself focused on a daily basis. I have caught myself wandering mentally too far in the future. I have a long, long way to go on this journey. I'm getting there with baby steps. Each day I succeed is a bonus for me. Everyday I have to be strong and encourage myself by reading and thinking out my day. I have been enjoying reading Dave's blast from the past, but I wish he would post them more than once a week. I don't know his schedule, so I don't know if that is possible. I love his enthusiasm and the fun way he writes. No movement to report on the scale yet. I want to give a special shout out to Mayim for the comment of support left on post day 54. It will show in the recent comments column. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb journey with me.

4/12/2015 - Blast from the PAST - Entry #7

Greetings all,

Here is my next installment of “Blast from the Past” or The Way We Were. OK, now that sounded so-fis-te-cated……..right?? Jeez does he ever give up? No, no he does not give up! Sorry folks it looks like I am arguing with myself and actually winning this time! Did that make sense? OK, here it goes:

Original Stardate: 7/6/2010

Today is the start of my third week of ZC WOE!!! I will start to post information on my weight, energy levels, overall health, food consumption, and any changes that I make as far as exercise or adding or eliminating certain foods. If anyone could suggest what kind of info I should keep stats on to help me narrow down what works for me would be appreciated. I had to buy a new scale recently; my old one was not reliable. It would go up and down the scale within seconds of weighing in. My best estimate is that I started out at 260 three weeks ago, so I will us that as my starting point. I will weigh myself in the morning in order to get some kind of consistency. I stopped drinking green tea in the mornings (which I was substituting for my coffee) and began to drink more H2O. I set my first goal weight of 185. It looks like I have lost about 8 pounds in two weeks. I kind of know that water weight (correct me if I’m wrong) plays a role in the beginning of carb elimination. I have to give my body time to adjust to this WOE. I also quit eating breakfast in the morning as a routine. I take extra GB (to work) and eat it when I’m hungry.

Thanks everyone for all the kind notes of encouragement.

Yes, the “Green Tea” did not last long. HA! What was I thinking? OK again with the freaking H20. The scale thing was not bad for “ME” because I don’t panic about the numbers. Because….well they are just numbers. I know this is not for the meek. So stay away from scales if they make you panic and rely more on how your clothes fit. I gave up eating breakfast because at the time I was eating just to eat. So I waited until I was hungry (good rookie points). I took extra food just in case (better rookie points). Exercise……well it really did not happen consistently as I planned and as stated before: ya really don’t need it. Observation about losing water weight at the start of (ZC)ing (bonus rookie points).

Have a Healthy Day my Family and Friends. Today is the first day for the rest of my LIFE. I am Powerful, I am Strong and I will Always Battle On!!!

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 77

Yesterday I went to work for that special project. One of the team members brought some kolaches and doughnuts. He was just trying to be nice and did not know that I practiced a different way of eating. I actually told him and he suggested that I break open the kolache and take out the sausage or ham because he brought both. He was trying to be nice, but I also explained to him that I practice to eat only when I am hungry. He shrugged his shoulders and gave up. I felt like an ass because I think he may feel that I was just rejecting his generosity. Regardless I do not intend to start to eat to please or make someone else happy. I did feel a little bad, but it is just one of those strange situations. Had I been hungry I not might have done what he suggested or maybe not. It is hard to say. I might want to go down that path. One thing could lead to another. Being Saturday my little team also wanted to go out to eat. I just told them that I brought food and was on a special diet and it would be in my best interest to eat the food I brought with me. I did not go into detail. They went to lunch and I ate my own food. My mouth is still a little sore. So yesterday I opted to just to cook the eggs and diced ham that I ate the day before. It is soft and plenty of protein. No big movement on the scale yesterday, but it is moving a little to the positive side. Nothing else eventful happened at work. I am not in a great mood lately because of my mouth and I can't imagine that I will do a repeat this coming Thursday. I hope I fully recover by then on my left side. Everything else is doing great. I will post back tonight for today events. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 76

Like I reported earlier today I went to the dentist yesterday. My mouth is still sore. I really felt like resting today. So I rested most of the morning. Later in the day I had a call from a friend that needed my help. She was going somewhere and was not sure how to get there. Her driving skills are not the best in the world and she is scared to drive freeways. So she came over and I helped her find her way to the place she was looking for. As a token of appreciation she treated me to lunch or what I call my second meal for the day. We went to a Tex-Mex restaurant. I guess I would have eaten beef or chicken fajitas, but I wanted something soft. I was in luck that this restaurant had a nice selection of seafood. I had real nice grilled fish filet covered with a garlic butter sauce that included real crab, scallops and shrimp. I asked them to leave off all the sides and add extra toppings of the crab, scallops and shrimp. It was a nice size portion of food. It tasted fantastic. This was at around 6 pm today. Now for what I ate for my first meal. I wanted something soft of course, so I opted for 4 scrambled eggs. I added some finely diced ham. I sprinkled a little onion and garlic powder. It was really tasty and it kept me satisfied until I ate later in the day with my friend. My mouth is still sore at this time. I still feel a little out of it.  No movement on the scale today. I have a special project tomorrow at work. I will lead a small team finish up some work. No real big deal. I am not sure what I will eat tomorrow. I will decided that in the morning. Thanks for stopping by to share my zero carb experience.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 75

Yesterday I went to the dentist to have the left side of my mouth deep cleaned after work. This is where they inject you with something in your mouth that numbs the gums. The needle really hurt a bit. They must have injected me at lest 8-10 times upper and lower gums on my left side. Then they used some gizmo to scrape and flush and suck all that mess on my teeth. Although my gums were numb it did hurt when they went deep. My mouth was in bad shape as far as pain an numbness was concerned. By the time I got home it was getting late and I just wanted to lay down. I mouth was sore from the awkward position it was in for almost 2 hours. I ended up eating my second meal of the day early in anticipation of the dentist visit. I also took today off, I slept in this morning. I woke up around 7 am, but made an effort to sleep more and fell asleep for a couple of more hours and woke again just a few minuets ago. I will post again later today. Nothing noteworthy from work to mention. Just my dentist experience in which I will repeat for my right side next Thursday. That will be fun. No movement on the scale. I had reduced the amount of food that I am eating and found so far that it does not make a difference as far as hunger. I will continue with that, but I will never starve or eat less than I feel I need to eat. Thanks for sharing my zero carb experience with me. I want to give a special shout out to Monica and Heidi for their comments of support. It is really appreciated.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 74

I'm feeling much better today. I did have another small bout of the runs today. Again it occurred after my second meal of the day. My stomach is OK right now. I ate a little less today to see how I would feel. It did not seem too different at all. I will eat the same amount tomorrow to see if I feel any different. I am posting a little early because I did not take a nap. I am still trying to break that habit. Unless it is really not a big deal to do so. In my view I want to start to be a little more active during the week, so that my weekends are a little free from doing too many chores. I will just take it day by day and if it happens, it happens. I am just focusing on eating zero carb everyday and avoiding any carb cravings possible. For some reason the day went really slow at work today. Then to top it off we had a meeting at the end of the day. I was so glad that there was no snacks at the meeting. They would have been some carb junk as usual. This Saturday I plan to go to a friends house to help him fix some lawn mowers. He said that he wanted to take me out to eat as appreciation. I asked him if he had a grill. He really did not answer for whatever reason. I just might buy a small inexpensive grill, coal and chicken or pork to grill at his place. I rather eat some home made food especially something grilled instead of going out. I am really starting to appreciate home cooking more and more as I continue with this lifestyle change. I used to get excited with the thought of eating out. Now the only time I feel excited about going out to eat is for breakfast on he weekends. I know that I will have a ton of stuff to chose from and not look like a freak or have to doctor up an order or have to exclude many things off my order. No movement on the scale today. Thanks for your continued support.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 73

Yesterday I had a little setback. I had a bout with the runs a little after I ate my second meal of the day. I did not really cramp much at all. I think it was my large ingestion of fat. Most of the meat I have been eating lately has been grilled. We all know that some of the fat for the most part on grilled meats drip away. The two meals I had yesterday had lots of great tasting fat. After my second trip to the restroom I laid down and fell asleep. I woke up last night just before midnight to go again to the restroom. It was almost gone at that point, but I was in no mood to fire up the laptop and write the post. I actually ended up waking up a little late this morning. I feel much better right now. I will continue eating the same meals as I did yesterday. My body will adjust to the fat intake. I just hope I don't have a repeat of yesterday. Work was uneventful for the most part. No movement on the scale yesterday. Thank you for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 72

The brisket came out really good. It had all kinds of flavor. I cooked it according to Dave's recipe and you can't beat it by a mile. As I mentioned yesterday I finished cooking it just before I went to sleep. I let it cool overnight. In the morning it was still a little warm. I got up a little early to cut up the brisket. Again I used Dave's suggestion of chopping it up and placing it all in a large sealed container. I put the container in the refrigerator so that I could bag it up after work. The rest of the day at work was uneventful. I got home and took out a lot of small baggies and began to spoon the chopped brisket into the bags. I ended up with 19 bags of brisket. I forgot to mention that this brisket was a full fat one. After it was cooked it had a lot of melted fat and broth. I did not waste anything. It all went into the container and then into the baggies. I was able to fit nine bags into two large freezer bags each. I had one extra one to take tomorrow for my first meal at work. No movement on the scale today. So far things are looking really good concerning my zero carb diet. Thanks for your support and sharing my experience with the zero carb diet.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 71

I had a really full day. I got up very early to go to church. Then I went to visit relatives the whole day. I was offered all sorts of high carb treats the entire day. I did really good. I had no cravings for carbs and was not tempted. I kept busy playing with young nieces and nephews. I helped with the grilling too. We ended up at a park for the most part. We took a chance since the weather forecast predicted rain in which we saw none. It was just overcast which made for a cooler day. I did drink a lot of coffee. I don't know if it helped with the cravings or not. I just felt better having an alternative to water. Later in the day I switched to ice tea. I did drink plenty of water too. We had a big Easter ham and grilled burgers, sausage and hot dogs. I stuck with the ham, sausage and burgers. I am not a big hot dog fan and they can have a lot of carbs. There was a lot of high carb side dishes and deserts. Our group was about 30 in total. That's including all the kids. I had a lot of fun. I ended up getting home a little to late to grill the brisket on the outdoor grill. I ended up baking it in the oven according to Dave's brisket recipe. I did not make the burgers, so I froze the meat for another day. So brisket will be my main meal for a lot of days to come. My whole house smells really good right now. I just finished cooking it a few minuets ago. No movement on the scale today. Thanks for coming by to share my zero carb journey with me. I enjoyed Dave's blast from the past that he posted today.

4/5/2015 - Blast from the PAST - Entry #6

Greetings all,

Here’s my next installment of “Blast from the Past” or…….do you have a Pet Rock? OK, be nice I am always looking for new material and I think that I was a little lacking the moment. Never fear! I am sure that I will noodle will come up with………..oops noodle is not a good word on a Zero Carb Forum. Sorry! See I am struggling here……. (New and improved material on my next post). Drum roll please and the gentleman with the large hooked cane will escort me off the stage……………….

Original Stardate: 7/5/2010

Today was a lazy day for me. My office was closed for the holiday (observance). I ended up running a few of errands (turning in my tux, shopping at Sam's, inspection sticker for car, and going to the local grocery store where I found some marked down beef). The Highlight of my day was to grill four (4) large Rib eyes and eight (8) smaller flat blade chuck steaks. I was able to spend a couple of hours at the waterway just relaxing with DW.

Here are some pics of the wedding reception "temptations":

Garden Salad

Steak,Chicken, Green Beans and Mashed Potatoes

ME

Just the "Balanced" food left

and last but not least "Wedding Cake"

I did not have any cravings for the carbs that were offered to me. I had to turn away six wait staff that kept trying to give me a salad and four wait staff that were trying to give me cake. I took photos of my DW Salad and Cake. All in all I had a real good time, I danced a lot, and drank tons of water.

I hope everyone that celebrates The 4th of July had a great time. I basically stayed home and rested from all the dancing. I think I will put up my lamp shade for a while. I guess when your 46 (like me) and don't cut the rug much, it can wear you down.

I will post some "changes" on Monday the 5th.

Observation:

First I must have been really tired not to realize that I was actually posting on the 5th and that the changes would occur on the 6th.  Next there I go again with the “lots of water”. I probably drank a ton of water from being out of breath and sweating to death from all the dancing. Weighing a ton did not help. Again I have to say that I was proud of myself for being so new to (ZC) and resisting temptation. All free and being shoved in my face. Everyone else was stuffing their face and I just smile and said “No Thank You” over and over and over again. Last but not least look at the picture of me. Jeez………”The Jowls of Death” Ha!!!

Now that was an interesting day. Twice within a few days I was faced with making critical decisions that would shape my future. First at the restaurant a couple of days earlier and then at the wedding. Had I been on any other diet I would have caved in on both occasions. I simply did not want to throw away the progress I was making and the confidence I that I was beginning to feel. Another step in the right direction. How easy it would have been to throw it all away for a cheap sugar rush.

Have a Healthy Day my Family and Friends. What is your Health Worth? Mine is everything to me. We win Battles everyday yet the War still rages on. Battle On!!!

Cheers,

Dave

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 70

I had a really great day. I ate a great first meal of a traditional breakfast. The weather was great so I went outdoors for several hours enjoying nature. Later in the day my friend that came over last weekend wanted to treat me to a meal for the BBQ we ate at my place. So after he got off work he came over and picked me up. We ended up a Chilis restaurant. One good thing about that restaurant is that they have a couple of steak options for a reasonable price. I had the rib eye steak and let my companion have the two sides that it came with. We ate and talked. I always have a good time with him. He is one of those persons that is really easy to talk to. We then headed to my place and watched a movie called Zulu Dawn. It was a great old flick. I had some positive movement on the scale today. I dropped another .5 pounds! I ended up shopping today for some more meat. I ended up with both a large brisket and a couple of packages of ground beef. I will cook them sometime tomorrow. I have not decided if I will use the outdoor grill or just cook them inside. Tomorrow I am invited to another friends church picnic for Easter. I don't know if I will go or not. I appreciate all your support and stopping by to share my experience with zero carb.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 69

Maybe I should start writing my posts in the morning for the previous day. Sometimes I procrastinate too much and wait too late to write my posts. Like I did last night. I ended up falling asleep with my laptop left on. Like a lot of people I use my laptop for entertainment too. I was watching a movie on Netflix and planned to write after that movie. I feel asleep and just woke up around 8:30 AM. I know that sounds like a poor excuse and it is. I need to write my post a little after eating my second meal of the day which in most cases would be no later than 8:00 PM unless it is a special occasion. Yesterday was a nice day for me  at work. A few of my coworkers took Good Friday off, so it left me by myself for the most part. I ended up spending some time with my manager talking over some special projects that are coming up. Later a really good work friend showed up to invite me to lunch. He is the guy that used to be my Chinese buffet buddy. We went about every other week or so. I really did not feel like eating out and told him I was busy. If I did feel like going out to eat I would have told him that I would be able to eat BBQ. He had asked me awhile back to eat Chinese and I got him to switch to BBQ. I really just wanted to eat the pork ribs that I made grilled and not worry about outside temptations. I like to mentally prepare before going out to eat if I have a chance to do so. Anyway I think my pork ribs are better than what I would get at a restaurant. The rest of the day at work was uneventful. I got home and chilled out. I made sure not to take a nap. That might be why I feel asleep so easily when I was watching a movie on my laptop. I ate the last of my grilled roast/steak. It was really good. I ate it with eggs as I did the last time. Later today I need to shop for some meat to cook for the week. I am thinking of brisket or burgers or both. I am not sure until I get to the store. I might find mark downs in the meat department that could change my mind too. For now I will try to continue to write my posts on the same day. I had some movement on the scale on the positive side, but not enough to report. I do like to report in .5 pound increments so it is not there yet, but almost. Maybe tomorrow or the next day. I appreciate all your support and stopping by to share my experience with zero carb.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 68

I polished off the meatloaf today. It was really good. Today at work I was invited to go out for lunch by 3 employees from across the hall that work in another section. I know them very well because we have training classes together from time to time for the past several years. I really wanted to go just to get out of the office and chitchat for awhile with people I don't get to talk to on a regular basis. So I elected to go. To tell the truth I hesitated at first and then decided to give it a go. It turned out really a lot of fun. We talked and joked around a lot. I know one of the people in the group a lot better becuse she works on my shift. The others work on the seocnd and third shift. Every Thursday they have a meeting with their manager and have to work the first shift. At the restaurant I ordered a large glass of ice tea. That was it. I was totally good with that and did not feel the least bit uncomfortable. I forgot to mention we went to a restaurant called the black-eyed pea. This is one of those comfort food joints. I was so satisfied with the meatloaf that I did not feel tempted in the least. it was great. This was a great confidence booster for me. The rest of the day was uneventful at work. When I got home I opted to forgo the nap. I have stayed up until now and I feel good. I betting that I will sleep well tonight. Later at home I decided to have a great meal of eggs and some of that homemade grilled roast/steak. I remembered I had a piece left and decided to knock it out. To my surprise I had a really large piece left. So I ate half of it in anticipation of eating it again tomorrow with eggs. Another great meal for the day. I can get used to this all the time. My adaption is hitting an all time high and I am really riding tall right now. I will take it as it comes. I don't know what tomorrow will bring, but I will tackle it when it comes. I hope it is as good as a day as I had today. No movement on the scale today. Thanks for all your support and for stopping by to read  and share my journey through zero carb.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 67

I can't imagine what happened to my last post. I actually wrote it last night and thought I went through all the motions to post it. Luckily I checked it this morning and discovered it was still in draft mode. I then logged back in and published it. That was really strange. Thank goodness for an uneventful day at work today. No food monsters were lucking around. I think it really took me until today to fully recover from that extra work I did in and out the house on Monday. I have been lethargic for so long that my body is just tuned into being lazy. Monday was a real wake up call for me. One aspect is that I am capable of doing a lot of work. I mean I busted my butt Monday with little rest in-between activities. I guess I can attribute that to my new lifestyle. I even surprised myself on how much work I did at a decent pace. Later on I did have some burn out and needed rest, but I would not have had the energy to even start and finish all the work I did that day. Maybe this is the start of something good. Another thing that was a little funny is that I felt a little more tired today than yesterday. I took a nap after work today. I know that I am trying to break that mode, but I am not totally there yet. It is not on a daily basis as in the past. I think I need to get myself engaged in some type of activities when I get home. If I start to watch TV I get sleepy right away and then it's too late and I fall asleep. That''s what happened today. I started to watch a little news and before I knew it I am waking up to write this post before it's way too late. I had a repeat of my meals from yesterday. I ran out of grilled burgers so tomorrow will be meatloaf. I still have enough pork ribs for at least one or two meals. All that cooking and it's almost time to start again. I might make one of those giant beef briskets Dave is always talking about. Those things are huge and will last me a long, long time. The more I thing of it the more I like the idea. I will keep an eye out for a beef brisket and cook it this Saturday. At least that is the plan. No movement on the scale today. I am feeling really good about this new lifestyle and the approach that I am taking with it. I just want to heal and live a healthy life. I don't want anymore struggles when it comes to food. My body is reacting really good at this time. My stomach feels fine and no more bouts with the runs so far. This is not fast fix. I look at this time as my time to heal. Thanks for stopping by to read and share my journey. I appreciate all the support I have recieved these past 2 months.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 66

I was sore all day long. That's what I get for being so lazy for so long. I just wanted to jell all day at home, but I know that would not have helped at all. I got myself up and to work and felt a little better. I must have used muscles that have been dormant for a long time on Monday with all that work I did. It's good to know how out of shape you are in case of a zombie apocalypses. I guess I would be a zero carb meal for them. In the past I have mentioned that I get invited to go out to eat at work every now and then. I think I also that I mentioned that sometimes vendors treat my section with food. Today was one of those days that a vendor treated us with food. I used to love to eat Chinese buffets. Instead of someone inviting me to go to one, one came to me. We were treated with a ton of Chinese food. The worst part was that my particular office has a large conference table in which they set up all the food. The smells of the food were incredible. I would call it torture. It was so bad that I left my area to work out of another office. I had to get away from the temptation. This is one of the reasons I know I am not there yet. 2 months sounds like a lot of time, but it is only a beginning. At this stage I think a lot of people could be vulnerable. It only takes a moment of weakness to ruin any progress someone has made. After that it may be hard to go back. So I chose to remove myself from the temptation. I understand that I will not always be able to remove myself from situations and I will have to deal with them. I just hope at that time I will be strong enough to deal with it. I am glad that I had a comment from Marie and that Dave answered it. Not everyone understands zero carb. Most have only heard of low carb. I hope Marie looks into it and gives it some consideration. There are people out there that eat zero carb strictly for good health and do not need to lose weight. No movement on the scale. Thanks for your support and stopping by to read.
