Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Days 111- 128

I am really glad to be back posting. I know it's really no ones fault that the site was not letting me post. Every time I tired to log on it did not recognize me and then would freeze up. Dave gave me a lot of support during the down time. He kept working on the site until it was up again and would let me log on and post. I am really enjoying my zero carb journey with good success. My eating times have been fairly consistent. Mostly I have a morning fast followed by two meals. My 1st  meal is almost always in the late morning around 10 or 11 AM. Then my 2nd is between 6 to 8 PM. Weekends start late morning around 9 AM,  unless I have plans to eat breakfast with friends or family. Then the time can really vary. Food choices have been really easy. I stick to beef, chicken, pork and eggs for the most part in different forms. I have been enjoying burgers and chicken thighs a lot. Weekends almost always include eggs for my first meal of the day. Eggs sometimes plays a role for my second meal of the day if I don't have anything I feel like eating or if I don't want to repeat what I ate for my first meal. I have had some positive movement on the scale, I dropped another 1.5 pounds. I met a friend this Saturday for lunch. He works near by and had some extra time for lunch. So I suggested eating wings. We split a basket of 20 wings. It does not sound like a lot, but it was very filling. We had the wings that are not covered in flour and I had a dry rub of spices on mine that did not have any sugars on it. Today was another lazy day for me. I rested most the day. I had a long week filled with all sorts of small suprises. I had caught a cold and coughed and sneezed for a few days. It was not real bad, just annoying. I am really happy to see so many people concerned out there about the blog and my journey. I want to give a special shout out to Dave, Denis, Aretha,  Anonymous (1# and #2), Monica Smith, Emily, and everyone else that stops by to read and give support.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 110

I ended up working a double shift on Wednesday. I was so tired when I got home at around 3 AM on Thursday morning.  I have not had to work those type of hours since 20 years ago when I was much younger. I got up late morning Thursday and felt groggy all day. I was really thrown off on my rest and regretted volunteering working that extra time. I might have to do that again sometime next week. I will just handle it as it comes. I had some movement on the scale yesterday and lost another .5 pounds. This made me real happy. I am just trying to absorb this new lifestyle and make adjustments as I can. You will be surprised on how this way of eating will make you feel physically. Although my body is tired from lack of sleep or should I say from my routine being thrown off, my physical state is great. I have read Dave describing experiencing a sense of well being many times in his past posts. Now I know and can appreciate what he means. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb journey with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 109

This morning (Wednesday) my house smelled great. As mentioned in the last post I continued to cook the beef ribs overnight in the oven on a low temperature. I cooked the beef ribs originally on the outdoor grill with pecan wood. When I woke up I thought I was in a BBQ restaurant. I just had enough time this morning to put the beef ribs up in containers and then into the refrigerator. Funny thing at work today, when I warmed up my food one of my coworkers mentioned how good my food smelled. I just smiled and ate with pride. This way of eating is really becoming a part of me. I am really learning how to plan for my meals. I am learning how to handle eating out. I still take it day by day except when planing meals. I can't say at this time that I feel totally confident that I would not cave in to carbs, but I do feel stronger everyday. I just don't want to get over confident. I guess you can say I want to keep my edge. No movement on the scale. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb journey with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 108

Tuesday was a great day for me. I totally recovered from my bouts of the runs and stomach cramps. I ended up cooking on the outdoor grill. I cooked a package of chicken thighs, a package of burgers and lots of beef ribs. I had about eight packages of beef ribs in various sizes. beef ribs have a lot of fat and bones, but they taste incredible. I have some pork ribs, but I already had to much meat, so I decided to save them for another day. After I finished cooking the beef I thought they were a little too tough. So I decided to wrap up the beef ribs in foil. I had 4 large foil packages of beef ribs. I put the oven on at 225 degrees for 3 hours. My oven has an automatic turn off feature. So I set if for 3 hours and went to sleep and left the beef ribs in the oven. In the morning I checked the beef ribs and they were really tender. No movement on the scale today. I want to give a special shout out to Denis and Dave for their comments of support. Thanks for coming by and sharing my zero carb journey.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 107

Monday was a much better day for me. I did feel drained from my ordeal on Sunday. I ended up taking the day off from work to rest and recuperate. I just laid in bed and slept a lot. I should have written a post that day, but I was not in the mood for it. I know sometimes my posts are real short, but it still takes some thought into what I want to write. I try to keep my private life on the down low. I don't feel comfortable with letting everyone know my personal business, but I do want to share my zero carb experience for those who are interested in this lifestyle. I had plenty of boiled chicken and chicken broth left from Sunday to have 2 meals on Monday. I did not weigh myself. As the day wore on I felt much better and my old self again. I hate being sick especially anything related to my stomach. I hate the runs especially. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me. Thanks for all of your continued support.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 106

Sunday was not a good day for me. Late Saturday night or should I say Sunday early morning my stomach was in knots. I had stomach cramps and the runs all day. I think I got something bad from the breakfast buffet at the hotel. I did not list one item I ate which was a small turkey sausage patty. It tasted strange, but I thought it was just some spices that I was not accustomed to eating, I guess I was wrong. I laid in bed all day and ran to the restroom all day. I did not bother to weigh myself. I ended up boiling some chicken thighs that I bought to grill. I drank the broth and ate the meat. It seemed to agree with me. I felt real dehydrated and drank lots of water. No much happened that day. Thanks for your support and sharing my zero carb experience with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 105

Saturday was a very special day. I spent it with my mom for mother's day. I will not be able to see her on Sunday, so I spent it with her on Saturday. I picked up my mom in the late morning and went to a real nice resort hotel restaurant where they have a real nice breakfast buffet. By the time we got there it was about 9:30 am. I ate 2 large plates of food. I ate a lot with the intention of eating only 1 meal for the day. The day went smooth and I had a great time with mom. No movement on the scale today. No cravings or stomach problems. My teeth are not sore, but still a little sensitive to cold water. I am feeling really good about about my zero carb journey so far and feel comfortable with this choice. I know that I can do this for life. Thanks for coming by and sharing my zero carb journey with me and for all your support.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Day 104

Friday was one of those days at work where the vendors supplied up with food. We must be doing something really great for the amounts of free food offered us lately. We were given 3 trays of sandwiches from some upscale shop. I don't know the name. There was an assortment of drinks, chips and cookies. I was so happy that I had just eaten about 30 minuets before the food arrived. One good thing is that I was able to score a bottle of water. I was not as bothered by it as the last time free food came to my office. Nothing else happened at work to mention. Tomorrow will be a special day for me. I will spend it with my mother. I will post about it on my next post. No movement on the scale today. My teeth are a little sore from the most recent visit to the dentist. She poked around in my mouth and scrapped a little here and there. It's not real bad, just a little sore. No stomach problems or cravings. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb journey with me. Thanks for all the support.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Days 103

Today everything was OK at work. Nothing out of the ordinary there. I have a good relationship with with an employee that works in another area close to mine. She has a lot of health issues. Most of these issues have to do with her weight. I have spoken to her and try to advise her to go on a very low carb diet. I know that she won't entertain zero carb. I stress to her that although they recommend her to eat starches such as oatmeal that it is not a good idea because it is very starchy and will break down into sugar at the end. I suggest for her to eat high fiber veggies and if she has to eat fruits I suggested low carb berries. I wish her well and hope that she finds her way to a better way of eating. I am almost out of meat. I have enough for my first meal tomorrow. I will do some shopping after work to see what's on sale and mark downs. I have a couple of slabs of pork ribs. I may take 1 out to get it ready to cook on the weekend. I still have one package of ham steak that I might thaw out too. I have a nice stash of bacon and pan sausage in the freezer. I also have good amount of beef ribs that need cooking too. I just might make some beef and pork ribs this weekend. I might buy some leg quarters and cook them on the grill. I will make up my mind tomorrow. I went to the dentist after work today. It was for a follow up to my to sessions of deep (painful) cleaning. I was examined and went through a light cleaning and polishing. I will go back in 3 months for another follow up and then I should be on the 6 month maintenance track. I am going to buy one of those sonicare electric toothbrushes. I have been wanting to buy one for a long time. Now that my teeth are in really good shape I want to keep them that way. I have some movement on the scale and lost another .5 pounds. This really made my day very special. Thanks for stopping by to share my zero carb experience with me and thanks to all of you for your support.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Days 102

Yesterday we had a small meeting at work in the late morning. We had the usual doughnuts, juice, coffee among other things. I drank a couple of cups of coffee. Most of the time these things don't bother me much if the smell is not too noticeable like pizza or those kinds of things. For some reason I kept looking at the assorted carb treats provided to us. It bothered me. I really don't know why. It really bothered me a lot. I can't pin it down. I don't know if it bothered me that I could not eat any of it or that the only thing there for me was coffee or that it was there in the first place. I was really disappointed in myself for feeling that way. Lately I just don't care if there is food around me that I can't eat, so why was I making a big deal about it? I stood strong and just drank my coffee and participated in the meeting. I kept these things to myself. I don't want to be labeled the freak or anything like that. I made it through the day and felt better when I got home to the enviromnt that I can control. Home has become a safe haven for me. No movement on the scale to report, but maybe later today. I will report tonight today's (5/7/2015) events and I will be caught up with daily posting and I will try to keep it up on a same day posting. Thanks for sharing my zero carb journey with me and all the support you have given.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Days 101

Yesterday, was a really good day for me. It was very relaxing knowing that I made it past 100 days. It put me in a different frame of mind. I really feel that I accomplished something big. Something life changing that will last forever. This is so different compared to my previous zero carb experiences. I had a lot of coaching from Dave before he felt confident enough to let me use this blog to document my journey. I will always be grateful for the trust he has in me. The only thing to mention at work was that one of our vendors was giving out $10.00 gift cards for Subway. They sell sandwiches and salads. Nothing I was interested in, so I passed. I had some movement on the scale, but not enough to report right now. Cravings are under control for now. My stomach is doing well. I will do a double post tomorrow. One early for today and a current one describing my dentist appointment. My teeth are feeling much, much better. I want to give out a special shout out to @tomaste and Dave for their comments of support. Thanks for stopping by to share my zero carb journey with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Days 100

Monday marks 100 days on my zero carb journey. The time has went by really fast. I am getting comfortable with this zero carb lifestyle. Yesterday was a normal day at work. Nothing really out of the ordinary. I was supposed to start a special assignment for 2 weeks, but that is on hold for now. I am anticipating going to the dentist this Thursday for a follow up my deep cleaning. My mouth is OK for the most part. It still hurts a little below the gums in the front upper and lower areas when I drink cold water. When I got home I tried the chicken salad. It was wonderful. It had lots of flavor. It sat in the refrigerator for a whole day and that brought out a lot of flavor. I ended up buying some plain pork skins on the way home to eat with the chicken salad. It was actually good by itself, but I wanted try it out and see how the combination tasted. It was really good. No movement on the scale, no cravings and the runs are under control for now. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb experience with me.

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Days 99

Sunday was a really nice day. I ended up cooking on the outside grill. I cooked burgers, market fresh Italian sausage and a whole chicken. I cooked the burgers and sausage first. I then split the whole chicken in half. I lightly seasoned it and cooked it on low for about three hours. After the chicken was cooked and cooled down I separated the white meat and chopped it up. I also cut up a green onion for flavor. I also put a little salt and pepper. I put a lot of mayonnaise and mixed it up. It's strange how something so simple tasted so good. It also had a little smokey flavor from the outdoor grill. I started out the day with a big breakfast. I guess I still had the taste for it after the big breakfast I had at Luby's. My cravings seem to under control for now. No runs to report. No movement on the scale. I had a really good day. Thanks for stopping by and sharing my zero carb journey with me.

5/3/2015 - Blast from the PAST - Entry #10

Greetings all,
Again it looks like two posts in one day. The first actually looks like a response to someone that posted on my Journal. I want to think it was Nikki. I might be spelling it wrong. I do remember someone by that name that started the same time as me. My next installment of “Blast from the PAST”:

Original Stardate 7/10/2010

I started ZC one week before I requested to become a member. It looks like we have the same registration date (6/29/10). I have extensive experience with LC and VLC so it was not a bad transition for me to ZC. While on VLC I occasionally only ate chicken.

“Keep strong and live long”. Just continue to plug away. You have made it this far. By the time you know it one month will pass by and then six. I focus day by day. I don’t care what my friends, family or coworkers think of my WOE. I am doing this for ME. I make sure that I have the right food at home for ME. My DW can eat whatever she wants. I’ll even cook it for her.

As far as the craving is concerned: I was reading online and all of a sudden I started to think about steak. I really wanted to eat steak (strange). I only can describe this as a craving. At that moment I pictured a steak in my mind and my mouth watered. I almost did not eat, because a few hours earlier I ate a juicy Rib eye and I had no hunger pangs. I remembered reading in this forum that in the beginning we should just eat (ZC) and not worry about amounts or calories. I know we are supposed to eat when we are hungry and to satiety. I have no idea if anyone here has experience this, but I did (maybe it was psychological).

I wish the best for you and I hope you can get through this stage of change without complications. There is a lot of good support here.

Original Stardate: 7/10/2010

I'm a little tired today. I didn't sleep well. My spirits are up and I still feel very positive about (ZC). I have had a consistent decrease of weight so far (10.6 pounds). I would not be discouraged if the scale fluctuated up and down or if I went into a stall. I would just adjust my choice of (ZC) foods and or amounts and see what happens.

260/249.4/185
Overall health (1-10):7
Energy level (1-10):5
Cravings: None
Today's Menu: Steak, H2O

Observation:

Like I noted earlier the first post seems to respond to someone that posted on my Journal. It seems that the subject of cravings for Beef is mentioned. It looks like I was trying to give her some support: Rookie to Rookie. Now I am trying to over analyze the craving situation. More advice was giving about just eat (ZC) and not to worry about calories. I do remember that being said. I believe it was to get your body adjusted to this (WOE) and the effects of losing weight, as in my case, would naturally happen. On the second shorter post a give a good positive overview of how things are with me concerning (ZC) and some weight loss. OK, I think I can give some Rookie points for giving support to another Rookie and for being positive about the outlook of my new (WOE).

Have a Healthy Day my Family and Friends. We all need some support in some shape or form. Even if sometimes we don’t know it. I remember a member of ZIOH by the name of Christiana. I thought of her as my “little sister” I loved the quote in her profile signature. So I leave you with those words: “Be kinder than necessary for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of Battle”.

Dave

Connor's Zero Carb Diet Journey Days 96-98

I will condense these last few posts into 1 because not too much happened and I am lazy. I last posted for Wednesday last Thursday. For Thursday, Friday and Today went really smooth. Thursday and Friday work went well. I finished the last of my brisket, chicken thighs and grilled sausage. Tomorrow I will cook burgers, Italian sausage and a whole chicken on the outdoor grill. I will use the grilled chicken breast from the whole chicken to make chicken salad. At work almost everyone has been talking about diets and exercise. I guess some have gained weight during the winter and now realize that summer will be here soon and they want to get into shape for that type of clothing. I really don't care too much about the season. I just want to continue with eating zero carb and get healthy. I want to make another brisket, but I am not sure if I will cook all the fat it came with again. I got the runs more than I wanted. I attribute it to the large amount of fat I ate when I had brisket. Other times I did not experience much of the runs. I don't mind eating the large amount of fat, but I do not want to have the runs all the time. It makes it hard for me at work. I am just being honest. I could trim some of it off and make tallow out of it to cook eggs I guess. I don't want to waste it. I just want to give my stomach among other things a break. The food I will list on this post will be for only today. Speaking of that I had a friend drop by this morning and treated me out for breakfast or what I call my first meal of the day. It turned out to be my only meal of the day. We had breakfast at a Luby's Cafeteria. Some of their locations offer a weekend breakfast buffet. They serve you like a regular cafeteria, but the waitress brings you anything you want after your first trip. I had a really big meal. I ate two plates of food. I had scrambled eggs mixed with all kinds of breakfast meats, bacon, some type of what they call sausage steaks, and pan sausage. The sausage steak is a real coarse ground pork with some really great seasonings. It looks like they might bake or broil them. Then they add a little cheese and some crumbled bacon on top. It has it's own flavor that is hard to describe. It does not taste like the pan sausage at all. I had 2 rounds of this stuff. It was really good at a great price of 5.99. It used to be 4.99 but it went up not too long ago. I also had coffee and water. After eating 2 plates of food, I did not feel stuffed and could have went another round, but I didn't. My friend is not eating zero carb and had the Belgian waffles, chicken fried steak with gravy, hash browns along with other things. He told me he was stuffed. He was amazed at the amount I ate with no complaints. It was a very nice day out and later on I took a long walk just enjoying the outdoors and the great weather. No movement on the scale today. I want to give out a special shout out to Denis and Monica fro their comments of support. I want to thank everyone that comes by to share my zero carb journey with me.
